Black Bear Diner Porterville reviews
18Outstanding comfort food with that good old fashioned great service you've come to expect from a down home Mom and Pop, but, in a chain. Rare, and quite satisfying.
It's a charming little place. Long wait to be seated. Service was very slow. The servers were friendly, but a bit inattentive. I ordered the chicken avocado club sandwich. It was well made, but bland (lacking seasoning). I ended up finding 2 hairs on my plate. The fries were ordered well done, and we're the best part of the meal. The cup I was given my diet Pepsi in was dirty. Unfortunately I didn't find that out until the end of the meal. Kept having to shoo flies away from us the whole time. My sister ordered the Big Grizz breakfast, and was satisfied with her meal.
Food is good, but the service is awful one waitress was even mean. I got my soup and salad a few minutes after I ordered. My husband’s order didn’t come until 40 minutes later.
TOP dinner and breakfast in a real American diner. The burgers and fries are a must here and the breakfast is SUPREME.
Overall good experience.my sweet potato fries were super soft instead of crispy, but tasted ok.mashed potatoes were loaded upon my request, but still the texture was very hard.
Very nice experience.
Delicious food, drinks and excellent attention.
We will come back for sure.
¡Thanks!
This is our go to restaurant, my family always loves getting together and meeting up here for delicious food and quality time together Whether you eat breakfast lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong my favorite special is chile verde omelet with bacon ong you guys gotta try the huckleberry milkshake mimosas are absolutely delish as well, pies are really good too we never have to wait long to be seated, the music is cool, and all the workers are always so sweet and considerate
Nice burgers but in a cold ambient! (Too low air conditioner). Nevertheless the restaurante was nice and waitress very kind.
Food: 10/10
Service: 10/10
Totally recommended.
Best place in Porterville to get your fix on the best breakfast in town and the portions are great! They’re steaks are pretty damn good to along with their morning coffee and fresh squeezed OJ.
As far as cafe food goes, Black Bear is a 10-out-of-10! We’re from Texas y’all and needed a good place to eat before heading into the Sequoia National Park.
I picked Black Bear and it was well enjoyed by all my kiddos plus the hubby. Service was friendly and place was clean.
My Son took me out for my 70th late birthday dinner. We had a very good meal & the service was good too
Excellent customer service. Food was extremely good. Nice and quiet environment. Hands down the best customer service in town. Sergio and Kristy along with the rest of the staff were on top of it.
Service was great! Food was excellent.would go there again
Our waitress was the best.
Waitress was awesome forgive me for not having her name! Little disappointed, members of the party had piping hot food and was good. I had a small order of biscuits and gravy and it was cold unfortunately. Didn't send it back didn't want to deal with it so it's just okay. I'm assuming it was served up first before the other. Otherwise it would have been five stars.
I can't remember a worst breakfast. Took an hour to arrive. There were three of us and we ordered the very basic Bear's Choice, or something like that. My biscuits were hard as a rock. The gravy tasted like flour and water. Because the gravy was so runny, it contaminated the rest of my food. Coffee was cold. Nope.
Was sent by gas station manager on the way from LA to Sequoia NP, for 'best food in miles'. Had no clue what Black Bear Diner' was as Dutch tourist. Then the Taco salad arrived with blue cheese dressing.wow! Then Amy came by and told me a bit of the story behind the Diner.more wow! Daughter loved the mac n cheese and girlfriend inhaled the sandwich. Locals probably know but aliens, go eat here and thank me later, if this helped.
Ps. Eet smakelijk!
Hungry? Well if you are.this is the place for you! Big portions at a good price.relaxing atmosphere and the woodsy theme is very quaint.
