I had come in to do my FSC test and had a pleasure being there as they were very helpful and detailed with any questions I had and the process was very quick. However I did not receive the said email yet for the certain classes they have and their recommended FFL but still a great experience overall. I have recommended all my former ROK Marine buddies and good friends to come here for their possible training needs. Anyone looking for the training required by The Butte County Sheriff to obtain or renew a CCW license, should definitely consider Black Oak Training, Inc. I have held my CCW license for eighteen years, meaning I've had to re qualify nine times. My recent re qualify was with Dennis Barrett at Black Oak Training. He won't teach you simply how to pass the test, he will teach you very important points in the law you need to understand! You will then easily pass the test, because you will know what you should do in any situation that may arise. No matter where in Butte County you live, do yourself a favor, drive up the hill, you'll be happy you did!

Black Oak Training is the place to go! Dennis and Anne are very knowledgeable, helpful and patient. Classroom instruction is filled with so much information. Black Oak Training will always be my go to for any firearm needs.

This was a terrific experience! I took New Shooter I and New Shooter II with Dennis. He was very patient and clear with all of his training and helped me find the perfect gun for me. At the shooting range, I felt absolutely safe and empowered thanks to his instructions and training and I had so much fun! Anne was always so sweet and on top of things when it came to scheduling, emails and calls. If you're looking for gun safety training, I would DEFINITELY recommend coming here!

This is my first CCW renewal with Black Oak and it is clearly the most well organized, and complete, training package I have ever experienced. Four hours are filled with both core information as well as creative scenarios to illustrate how best to handle various situations any of us may encounter. By the end of the training session the participant is well prepared to take on the responsibilities of being a CCW permit holder.

Both Anne and Dennis are marvelous to work with on my journey to a new CCW. Clear communications is key and they delivered! The CCW class was stellar, in my opinion. I look forward to working with Dennis on continued training.

Dennis and Anne are the best. Anne handles the paperwork side of things and Dennis is a great instructor keeping us students up to date on everything going on in California that is gun related. Does a great job of explaining things in depth and is a great instructor for shooting as well. I can't imagine a better experience when renewing my CCW. Class sizes are generally small which makes for a much better experience. Thanks Dennis and Anne,

Amazing RSO instruction. Detailed, precise, practical in real world application. Dennis is a great teacher and I learned so much more that what was in the teaching guide. Ann is an amazing organizer and guide. I will be returning for more classes! The best instruction ever!

I highly recommend Black Oak Training! As a "mature" woman getting my first CCW, Dennis provided excellent training in both the Marksmanship class and the CCW class. He is very knowledgeable, patient, and kind. I learned so much! Anne is an excellent communicator - providing detailed information to answer all my questions.

Took the marksmanship tuneup class, couldn’t have been happier. Dennis was my first formal training class and he was absolutely outstanding. He has a great sense of humor, prioritizes safety, and taught me several tricks, training ideas, and started breaking some bad habits.

This course is incredible, even for someone who has been shooting for years. He also helped me get familiarized with the controls of a newer firearm.

Anne, who seems to do the booking, is absolutely great and super accommodating. Her emails are thorough, well written, and entertaining!

I look forward to taking my intial ccw course, as well as future classes to keep up to snuff.
