Black Velvet Coffee Espresso Bar, Mammoth Lakes CA

This place is my go-to coffee shop in Mammoth. Cute vibes, super nice staff, great drinks (their seasonal syrups and Kyoto cold brew are aces), and an excellent waffle. Highly recommend!

We love Black Velvet. They seriously make the best coffee in town. And, when you're waiting in line for up to 45 minutes to order, you know it's going to be one epic coffee!
Their sweet treats are great as well. I usually gravitate towards the Vegan Bannana Bread, while my fiance always gets the warm churro waffle!

We got the Horchata Latte and the Ginger snap Chai for $6 each and we loved both. Great spot for quality coffee and good service. Looks like the downstairs seating is for coffee and upstairs is for wine but the whole vibe of the place is cool.

I showed up right at 6am and they were ready to go! Wonderful coffee! Very friendly staff. Highly recommend this establishment!

Best cappuccino and latte I’ve ever had. Smooth and delicious! No bitter coffee taste at all. YUM! If I come back through Mammoth I’ll be stopping for sure. WiFi is good. Not great.

Great coffee for home, probably best beans in Mammoth. Good coffee in house as well with great atmosphere, study spot, rest rooms, merch. Also great community partner as they have the drop off and pick up for Torrey veggie boxes. Awesome branding!

They do not have a menu for their wine out so if it's not posted or you don't ask then you'll never know
I did see the beer tap after I ordered but it was only a handful
so I would say it's pretty popular for its coffee more than anything

Bradley was so friendly even when he was clearly very busy. Latte is fantastic as well! Will definitely be back next time I'm in Mammoth.

Black Velvet consistently delivers the most quality coffee Mammoth Lakes has to offer. I've been impressed time and time again by their cappuccinos and pour over offerings. The space is comfortable and the barista's are always kind. I always recommend my photography clients come here when they visit Mammoth.

They have a nice benefot of a free brew with the purchase of a coffee bean. I enjoyed their ginger latte (pictured) and they do it up nicely for cheaper than a SBUX.

Delicious Belgian waffle made at the moment and hot beverages in a ceramic cups, both a rarity! Definitely recommend.

Worst chai of my entire life. You guys should be embarrassed to charge 5$ for powdered chai. F’ing absurd

The baristas here that I have met are knowledgeable, kind, and passionate about their coffee. From their willingness to take time dialing in their pour over, to their attentiveness in pulling espresso and not scalding their milk, they are on it. Coming from the PNW, I'm a bit of a critic. Its a 1 on 1 experience most of the time so ask them questions about their coffee! Specialty coffee at the hands of a good barista makes all the difference. If you've had a bad experience here, I'm sure it's just a matter of a lazy barista that day (which I've had here in the past years).
