The next best step you can make on your recovery journey. Coming from detox/residential to PHP/IOP there is an enormous recovery community here in Southern California. Combined with an amazing clinical staff, beautiful beaches nearby and a very well structured program, Board walk has given me the foundation and framework necessary to lasting sobriety.

If you are ready to get sober then this is the place to be. This is an all men’s facility. The staff is extremely kind and welcoming. I was welcomed back with open arms after coming back for a second time. Be prepared to dive into AA which I always resisted but have come to realize is the ONLY way that I’ll be able to stay sober. Ive tried everyone other way to get and maintain sobriety only to fail. They’ve assisted me throughout the process and are always there to talk if I need it. Groups throughout the day, activities on the weekend (paintball, MMA fights, UFC PPV, etc.). Activities during the week such as surfing or MMA at Chris Leben’s gym. You can’t beat being in Pacific Beach in Southern California to get sober. I’d suggest getting out of your comfort zone such as meeting people at AA meetings and getting phone numbers from others in the AA rooms, call these people daily, open up about the issues you’re dealing with no matter how hard it may be, get a sponsor, do step work, etc.it’s simple but it may not be easy but that’s what it takes for people like you and I.

Before I got sober, I had no idea what a treatment center was, nor did I ever anticipate going to one. After I did 30 days in detox it was recommended that I do an aftercare program, such as Boardwalk. I ended up going to Boardwalk, & it was such a positive experience for me. This place really helped solidify my sobriety, & establish a routine for me like going to meetings, finding a sponsor etc. The staff at Boardwalk did everything they could to help me achieve sobriety & I am so grateful that Boardwalk was/is a part of my journey. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs help getting sober & getting back on their feet.

Easily the best place to begin your recovery journey. The program is extremely supportive. The community is extremely supportive. The atmosphere with all the clients is uplifting beyond belief. Finally, the staff is irreplaceable.from the intake staff to the techs, therapists, and counselors.the staff really makes this place a unicorn compared to other programs. Never imagined I could get back on my feet and I have the entire Boardwalk program to thank for that! Life saving!

Going into a recovery center after detox I was nervous for the transition, but after the reviews I heard of boardwalk I had high expectations. They were absolutely met and exceed all my expectations. This process we go through adjusting to a new way of life can be overwhelming but I feel blessed the whole staff was very supportive in helping me. From the first day everyone was friendly and showed genuine care, all the activities they set up for us were fun, the living situations were very nice, and more importantly furthered my confidence in my sobriety. The group therapy was the most beneficial activity for me where I met counselors who created an environment for us to learn and support each other in our recovery. I can’t thank them enough! All I have to think about is one day at a time, everything else fuuuhhget about it!

The program in which I was referred to and currently in at BRC has given me the space and resources to continue building on my recovery capital and a foundation in which to continue the serious decision of sobriety. The location and living situation leave nothing to be desired but that could go without even saying. The real strength of BRC in my humble opinion would have to be the staff who you tirelessly interact with in scheduled classes and otherwise. The attention to detail and care that is provided is second to none. A required class could easily become a chore unless the person teaching it can hold your attention. And at the early stages of recovery with attention spans minimal the staffs true compassion for those they are helping makes the client feel as if they might be speaking only for them. The one on one therapy allows clients to work through more private affairs with the trust one desires when broaching such topics. The care is not overbearing but evidently there. The structure allows for growth and self-reliance with a much needed security blanket. One’s situation will always rely on the work you are willing to put towards it and as I can only speak for myself I’m nothing but grateful for the opportunity to be a part of BRC and experience all it has to offer. With coming up on 6 months clean I couldn’t imagine a better choice to continue my journey than the one I made when coming to San Diego and BRC in specific.

I came to Boardwalk after spending 58 days in treatment. From the start everyone was very welcoming. I spent about a month in PHP. I went to group for 7 hours a day while in PHP. The groups were great they are structured for getting back to living a sober life and to deal with alot of the internal issue most of us addicts have going on. The counselors that facilitate the groups are awesome and very knowledgeable. Your not just a number or a $ to them. The counselors and case managers and everyone that works at boardwalk have been very instrumental to me having success in my sobriety. I'm currently 8 months sober and look forward to hopefully meeting you or a love one that hopefully chooses to come to Boardwalk.

Got kicked out for breaking rules and cheeking meds apparently when others that relapsed in the same program were welcomed back. Not every addict tells the same lies to manipulate what they want in treatment. They probably thought I was selling my meds when I have 2 full scripts at home 10 mins away from the center. I recommend other facilities in the area ie mhc, healthy life, pacific palms, they will not micromanage and push 12 steps and a higher power on you. Discharged me without a proper transfer to another facility and didn't let me plead my case.
