Warm greetings to All,

Six months ago today, on November 19,2019 I had a life changing experience. I had the Holccomb C3-R Crosslinking procedure done on both my eyes and an Intac inserted into my right eye. From that day forward, my eyes have been pain free. Hallelujah! Thank You, Jesus!

Before the procedure, I had excruciating, daily pains due to Keratoconus. It was interrupting my day to day life. When that horrific pain hit, it would stop me from whatever I was doing. I would hold my eye with my hand and wait for it to be over. After the pain subsided, tears would roll down my face. It was awful. At work or in public, it was embarrassing. While driving, it was scary. I never knew when the pain would come. Unfortunately, it came everyday and multiple times each day.

From the very next day after having the procedure done at the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute, my eyes felt stronger. My vision had improved and I have never experienced the pain I had from before. But the best part, I now have a peace of mind of never worrying again about needing a cornea transplant.

To the wonderful team of Boxer Wachler Vision Institute,

Thank you all for the excellent quality service and experience you provided me while I was at your Vision Institute. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by the warm, friendly, welcoming faces.

Dr. Brian, thank you from the bottom of my heart for not giving up after your 2007 scientific talk. Without you, I would be headed down a road for a cornea transplant or having the painfully invasive epi-off crosslinking surgery. After watching your TEDx Talk and countless other videos of you, I felt fully confident with your knowledge to perform your non invasive Holcomb C3-R Crosslinking on my eyes and inserting the Intac into my eye. Words don't even come close to the gratitude, appreciation and admiration I have for you.

Jon, thank you for all the test you put my eyes through with your steady hands and your humor of how many cups of coffee you had that morning, which ironically happened to be none. Your joke was a refreshing relief during a nervous time for me. Thank you again for talking me through the darkness and bright lights during the Intac surgery.

Carlos, thank you for your calm, reassuring, presence while getting me ready for my procedure. Then going over step by step of what I needed to do after my procedure was over.

Natalie, thank you for being with me throughout the Holcomb C3-R procedure and keeping my eyes comfortable.

Jen, thank you for answering the many questions I had before, during and after my visit. For going over all the paperwork with me and finding a local Optometrist for my follow up visits, who has seen others that have also had the Holcomb C3-R procedure from Dr. Brian.

Curtis, thank you for your superb website design and having it be the first site I found one worrisome late night, researching Keratoconus. As well as helping me during the video, your smiling, happy personality was the perfect way to end my visit to the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute.

To everyone behind the scenes who I didn't meet but I know are working hard to make everyone's visit wonderful, thank you!

With much appreciation,
Meg Shetterly

Great Dr.his knowledge and approach is beyond comparison. I have gone to Wachler vision institute on 2 separate occasions after other ophthalmologist had told me that there wasn’t hope. 1st was with keratoconus was told I was going have to be legally blind to get a cornea transplant. He approached it with such confidence and gave hope. He explained procedure to a T. I went from a 20/100 to a 20/25-20/30 on both eyes after the procedure. 2nd time I had pain and discomfort in my eye and other Dr wanted to surgically remove my intacs (installed by wachler) had 2 opinions then went to BWVI for third opinion. After testing he diagnosed me with MGD and did a less invasive procedure and provided a treatment plan. I can honestly say my vision is great and pain and discomfort are gone. I couldn’t be more thankful and blessed to have found Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler when I was down on luck and out of hope. Thanks Boxer Wachler Vision Institute!

Excellent results. I was told that my vision would not be correctable with out a scalerial conact lense, It was extremely uncomfortable and my vision got worse with it as the day went on. I am seeing 20/30 out of my right eye with Intacs and CK. Will be fitted for soft lenses in two weeks. This has been a life changer for me!

As someone who has lived with keratoconus for the past 20 years, I have finally been able to feel better about my long term vision and eye health after being treated by Dr. Brian and the amazing staff at Boxer-Wachler Vision Institute. After sending my records to the BWVI for review, Dr. Brian and his staff took over and made this process so easy. Jen was fabulous in making sure I was all set and ready to go since I was coming from out of state for this procedure. The office staff was very organized and attentive to every detail to make sure that payment, follow-up, and any paperwork was taken care of. Carlos was a true professional and his up beat positive attitude made my office visit go by quick all while delivering quality patient care. Dr. Brian is a great physician. He makes sure you leave his office feeling confident, in the best spirits, and with no questions left unanswered. I am a true believer in the Holcomb C3-R procedure after having it done and experiencing the positive changes in my vision. Dr. Brian and his staff put the patient first and I would not hesitate to recommend BWVI to anyone and everyone. Thank you BWVI!

A very unethical doctor who would do anything to get your money without considering the damages done to your eyes. I had my I-brite procedure done by him and now my eyes are so blurry. Pain is all the time. The blood-shot appearance is worse than before.

My eye sight has continued to deteriorate after visiting Boxer Wachler and I am writing simply to inform people of the treatment Wachler does and the other treatments available. I visited him several years ago, now I have visited other doctors who have said that the procedure Wachler does, Holcomb c3r, is not FDA approved. Eye patients note, there are two cross linking procedures, one where they remove the skin over the cornea and one where they do not. (yes there is a 'skin' over the cornea) Wachler's treatment does not remove the skin. It did not work for me. Perhaps because it is not as effective it is not approved by the FDA. Wachler's treatment is less invasive which is considered a benefit, however, if in the end your keratoconus gets worse, then it Is certainly not a benefit. My eyesight got worse after doing his procedures. I rarely write reviews, it is not something I enjoy doing. However as this may give other people some added information that I was not aware of when I went ahead with Boxer Wachler's treatment, I hope it is helpful.

Having your vision deteriorate and being helpless takes the hope out of your life. My Optometrist, Dr. Gerry Gee, was able to provide me with the correct diagnosis of Keratoconus. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything clearly to me. At first, it was intimidating but then he assured me he knew who to direct me to.

The office at Brian S. Boxer Wachler is filled with competent and kind people who took after me from the moment I walked in. That hope was restored when I realized how accomplished Dr. Wachler was.

During the procedure, his calm demeanor allowed me to relax and focus on restoring my eyesight. My nerves were also calmed because he thoroughly explained everything, from the procedures to the implications. All in all, my experience throughout the entire process was incredible.

He ruined my vision. In 2008-2009 I had the Ibrite procedure done because there were prominent red veins in my eyes that made them look "unattractive". I paid $7000 to have the procedure with a promise that my eyes will look much better. A month after procedure, my eyes looked EXACTLY the same, not even the smallest red vein was removed. I complained to Dr Wachler and he refunded me $3,000. Then ever since my eyes are so extremely sensitive to light that I haven't been able to tolerate computer screen and always have to dim the lights in room. In 2010 I started to have aura migraine which meant the migraine was always on or around the eyes (not the head) and was ALWAYS triggered by light. Thanks a lot for putting me through hell with false promises just for your money hunger, Dr. Wachler.

He is amazing. I'm from Brazil and I sent an email asking information about a treatment for dry eyes that he is one of the few doctors in the world prescribing, and also, in which he is probably the most experienced physician. Even without me paying anything for his time, he shared his protocol so I can discuss with my doctor. This is a real doctor and a really human attitude. Thank you Dr Boxer!

He is a genius. I went for my keratoconus. He performed a Holocomb C3R in both of my eyes and intacts in my left eye which resulted in my vision jumping from 20/100 to 20/30 without any pain! What a miracle

I am from Ohio and was treated for post-LASIK ectasia and words cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Brian and his staff! The office is a well-oiled machine and treats patients first-class. Dr. Brian is extremely knowledgeable, prompt, courteous and patient. I only wish his office was in Ohio!

Dr Brian treated me in July 2018 for my keratoconus with intacts, CK and Holcomb C3 in right eye and just C3 in left eye- Im seeing 20/20 in both eyes now with a soft lens in left eye and scleral lens in right eye. I travelled from NC and has a great 3 day experience with he and his office staff. Glad I did it and seeing and enjoying life!

No doctor in the world has Dr. Brian's level of knowledge, expertise, honesty, and bedside manner. He is decades ahead of the opthalmalgic industry when it comes to keratoconus management and treatment. If your doctor is telling you that you should do cross linking surgery to halt your kc progression please please run away quickly. Instead get the non invasive Holcomb C3R treatment done which is far more effective and literally has zero side effects.

This place is a scam. And even if it isn’t a scam, they sure don’t act like a business with integrity.

When I first wanted to get the Holcomb C3R done and sent in an inquiry, the staff was very responsive and helpful. I got followup emails from Natalie and Irene, individuals who I was contacting about details and pricing for the procedures, and which procedures were needed for my specific needs.

I had severely advanced keratoconus, and the treatments Dr. Brian was offering seemed to be exactly what I needed. My vision had been declining for several years, with no hope for correction with hard or soft contact lenses, glasses, or other methods such as PRK or LASIK. It was starting to affect my ability to work, drive, and live my life.

I made a appointment in July 2018 and flew to Los Angeles for the three days needed for the entire process. I had Intacs and C3R done on both eyes with an addition CK done on one. The staff was courteous and good at explaining everything during the process. After my Intacs had been inserted, I opened my eyes and really felt that my whole world had been changed. I could see so clearly and read the letters and see faces that before the insertion, had been so blurry to me.

But everything went downhill after that.

I knew there was downtime to the procedure — the staff had let me know that, and I was expecting my vision to fluctuate and even be worse than it had been previously for a few weeks. But I knew it was supposed to get better. That’s what the staff promised me after constant calls, and that’s what others who had the same procedure done seemed to be saying would happen.

One week passed. Then two. My vision was getting worse, not better. It was completely worse than before I’d had the procedure done.

I placed a worried call to Boxer Wachler, and I was reassured that this was normal, and I should expect this for up to six weeks (which was already longer than I’d been told in the office).

Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks, six weeks. I expected to wake up one morning with even a slight improvement in my vision, to even have a fraction of the vision I’d had in the office after having my Intacs inserted.

No luck. My vision never got better.

After the six week period, I reached out again. I called and emailed, but the responses were sparse. If I called, I’d be placed on hold, or redirected, or even hung up on after I’d been placed on hold. If I did manage to talk to someone, it’d be empty promises and vague beats-around-the-bush answers - “This is normal, you can expect fluctuations in your vision from day to day or even within one day. ” They brushed away my concerns like they were inconsequential, despite my even sending reports from my opthamalogist that my vision was still declining, instead of improving.

What fluctuations? My vision wasn’t fluctuating. It was getting worse!

But no matter what I said, I got the same replies.until I stopped getting replies at all.

My calls were constantly “dropped” and my emails went unanswered for weeks and months (despite them being so quickly answered before, as a new patient, before they got my money).

This business has no business being a business. They have poor customer service and don’t care about you after they get your money. Despite the one year warranty, they don’t care about what happens to you after the three days you have the procedures. They flat out lie and give vague denials so they can maintain their reputation and status.

Not only is my vision way worse than before going to Boxer Wachler, I’m also incredibly really frustrated with the lack of caring and the terrible customer service and attitude of this institution. It’s downright neglectful and irresponsible, and shows me that they wanted nothing but my money in the first place.

Thanks for nothing, Boxer Wachler.

Dr. Wachler performed C3-R on both of my corneas back in 2005 when I was in my early twenties. Lucky to have found him as this was relatively new at that time and I had been diagnosed just months prior to seeing him. Oddly, I recently met two men in the past two weeks around my age who both had their corneas rupture and required transplants due to progressed Keratoconus. My corneas remain stable and have not progressed following C3-R in 2005.

Super nice doctor and I see all these awesome reviews but I thought I should write to tell the truth about my experience. I have a degrading cornea problem from a previous eye surgery called RK. Doctor Boxer said he could help me and prevent it from degrading as fast as it was with his holcom method. Anyway after the surgery I see double. My eyesight is worse than when I started. But in taking the eye exams there at his practice he claims I started at 20/80 each eye and now I'm 20/60. But I told him that could not be possible as one eye is substantially worse than the other. He simply said that's what the test showed. He wrote me a prescription for glasses and suggested I use his optometrist. Instead I went to my own who told be one eye was substantially worse than the other! And Dr. Boxers prescription was incorrect! Just as I had thought. I paid a lot of money trusting he could fix me, now I see double and still glasses wont work for me. I know he tried his best so what can I do? Im sure hes great with simple surgeries like lasik but be careful if you have a problem like I have with previous RK surgery.
