Boyle MacDonald Wines, Murphys CA

Boyle MacDonald makes only high quality wines, and the tasting room experience feels super-welcoming and is more like Cheers than Napa. I'm a huge fan of their whites made from red wine grapes. Friday night deck music is nice too.

Across the street from Murphy's Hotel, and quaintly tucked upstairs, Boyle MacDonald Wines is a little slice of Heaven. We first started buying wines from them when they were Ariel Vineyards, a little detour off the highway approaching Murphys. Fell in love with the Sangiovese (both red and white!) and have continued that love affair to this day. Craig is warm and a wonderful host and Kate is an amazing winemaker. Take the time to sit back on their rooftop patio and savor a tasting, enjoy friends or make new ones. This is the place to do it!

Love these guys. Kate and Craig know good wine as well or better than anyone, but they don't take themselves too seriously. Their wine is fantastic and the atmosphere in the tasting room and out on the rooftop is always wicked good fun.

Boyle MacDonald wines are a hidden gem! Highly recommend them. Kate, winemaker/owner, does fabulous work crafting her wines. If you're in Murphys, you have to visit BM and taste their great wines!

This place is a hidden gem in Murphys! The wine made by the super cool Kate is next level amazing and Craig is always entertaining and good for lots of laughs;) We love the rooftop where you can get a cool breeze, hang out with friends and listen to local musicians. Come for the wine, and stay for the vibe!

Love this wine and the tasting room. Kate consistently makes interesting delicious wine and Craig keeps the tasting room humming. Friday evenings on the rooftop with live music, great wine. Doesn’t get any better!

Boyle MacDonald wines are incredible! From the classic Cabernet to the innovative Sangiovese Bianco, Kate's craftsmanship shines through in quality and flavor. Hidden Gem! Boyle MacDonald's selection of wines was extensive, catering to both seasoned wine enthusiasts and novices alike. From bold reds to crisp whites and delightful rosés, there was something for every preference. Their knowledge about the wines and the winemaking process was impressive, and they took the time to answer all of my questions with patience and enthusiasm.

Not just a friendly and comfortable tasting room but hands down the best wine around. Winemaker Kate is so talented. You will not be disappointed!

Craig and Kate are amazing. Their wines are incredible. You’ll regret it if you don’t stop by. Beautiful tasting room and outdoor seating. There is even a BNB attached you can rent.

The historic downtown of Murphys with over two-dozen tasting rooms is only two hours away from Oakland, But to experience the Boyle MacDonald tasting room, I would travel double the time! In addition to the amazing wines by the winemaker Kate (and if you are lucky, you might meet Kate in the tasting room) I love the decor, the ambience, the ability to enjoy roof top (the only space like this in Murphys) and the joy and community Craig offers. Music on Fridays is incredible. When going to Murphys, an afternoon at the Boyrle MacDonald tasting room is a MUST for us.as it is to leave with their wine to enjoy when back in Oakland!

Highly recommend! Boyle Macdonald wines are well made, interesting and balanced. The wine maker is clearly talented (great wines!) and also super cool, as I’ve met her numerous times at the tasting room. The tasting room is lovely, great space, fabulous decor, awesome outdoor sitting. Customer service here is spot on. The owner and staff will chat with you about the wines and offer a vibrant experience when tasting these fantastic wines. I absolutely recommend this winery as the top spot to any friends visiting Murphys or Sierra foothills area!
