Brambila Salon, Santa Monica CA

I booked hair and makeup services for myself and bridesmaids and mother-in-law here. It was time-intensive to book. It took nearly 50 emails to arrange 1 bridal hair/makeup, 9 hair/makeup appointments for one day. We confirmed prices: $110 for down styles, $150 for up. Unfortunately the owner did not honor that pricing in the contract, and broke trust.

I did trials at this salon to make sure everything would run smoothly the day of. I got an email the week of my wedding saying that the MUA I had done the trial with was not going to be available because he was out of the country. It turns out he ended up making it, but the back and forth on this with only days notice after I had booked in December/January for an event in August was stressful.

The hair styles and makeup turned out just fine for the most part and the salon itself is very charming and they allowed us to bring food and drink; however, the bumpy ride to get there was time consuming and frustrating.

I've moved my star rating from 1 to 3 because the owner got in touch with me to apologize and resolve the charge discrepancy. I appreciate the follow up and got the sense the owner was truly looking to rectify the situation.

I had my first cut with Maurice and it was fabulous! I was excited to have him cut my hair. I have a lot of hair and he made it feel lighter and bouncier without loosing length or thickness. Thank you!

During my visit in LA, I made the right choice to listen to my sister and come see Maurice! I have received one of a kind type of an experience. He is such a professional, highly talented and skilled at what he does. I have received the best advice and got the most beautiful haircut ever! I used to NEVER leave the house with my hair wet, because I couldn’t trust it would look good when it dried. In fact 99% of the time, if I didn’t have time to style it I had it up in a bun / ponytail. BUT For the last month+ I leave the house with my hair wet ALL THE TIME. It has been a game changer for me when it comes to getting ready and especially when I’m running late.

Maurice was fantastic. I went in for a Brazilian blowout, but he tested my hair to see what worked better and recommended the keratin treatment. My hair is smoother and healthier than it’s ever looked. I’ve attached a before (I really had to dig to find one since I rarely went out with it having dried on its own) and after. The after picture is with no styling and is just how it dried. It’s not perfect, but Maurice had set the expectation it wouldn’t be, but that my hair would be much better. I absolutely love it and will definitely be back at the 3 month mark.

IF YOU HAVE CURLY HAIR COME HERE TO MAURICE! I have fine Jewish curls and am very particular with who cuts my hair. I like it cut dry, very little and in align with the growth of my curls. It’s so hard to fine someone I trust, but Maurice did an absolutely amazing, thorough job. My hair is SO healthy now and looks beautiful thanks to him he’s also a wonderful person in addition to an amazing hairstylist. A true artist! If you are in Santa Monica this is your spot and person. Just moved to Santa Monica and im SO glad I ran into this hair salon. Maurice gave me THE BEST haircut for my hair type and thoroughly explained the best ways to treat my hair to get it to a better place. Truly recommend coming here! Thank you Maurice!

I was in town staying at the Sonder hotel decided to have a little self-care with a haircut. After reading the reviews, I booked a cut with Maurice, and I am so glad I did! He listened carefully to me (I’m very athletic and my hair has to look great with almost no styling) and he gave me an incredible haircut. I loved the salon by the ocean; the light was great. This was such a detailed and masterful cut. Highly recommend!

I have been getting my hair done at Brambila Salon in Santa Monica for almost 20 years now! I met Mary Brambila when I lived in Los Angeles and she did the best job I have ever had with my color and highlights. I have since moved to San Diego and STILL drive up to have Mary at Brambila Salon do my cut, color and hair treatments because honestly she is the best. I have tried to find a hair salon I like as much by my house in San Diego and no one compares. So I drive almost 3 hours to get my hair done at Brambila because there is no better feeling than the confidence of loving your hair cut, color and style! I have even had extensions done by Mary there before and everyone thought they were natural! If you’re still looking for your hair “person” try any stylist at Brambila and I promise you will be so happy with their service! Oh, and the salon is literally by the Ocean on Ocean Ave.in the cutest bungalow- they give you fun coffees or drinks upon arrival and it’s seriously a positive vibe in there! Highly recommended!

I came with long hair and left with healthier, beautiful long hair! So grateful. I felt comfortable from the start. Maurice greeted me with a warm smile and educated me so much about my hair needs. Fabulous salon anb Stylist, Maurice. I had a hair cut and it was perfect! I am so happy that I look 100% better. I feel like a million!

I will not be returning to this salon. The first time I received service here the stylist was not very attentive and more interested in conversation with other client that she had. End result was that she did not cover all my roots. Decided to give this place another chance and booked with other stylist. Second time around other stylist was extremely rude, not directly at me but, other client. The one person that made my experience better is Mary at front desk. Love the location of this salon but, lacks professionalism.

Had the best experience getting my hair cut here. My hairdresser, Maurice, was very professional and very experienced. Would absolutely return for a haircut or other in the future. Highly recommend!

I visited this salon when I was in town for a wedding. I was so impressed! Loved everything about it! Cute and welcoming place, and Morgan did a great job on my hair. She is skilled, knowledgeable, and also warm and friendly. Highly recommend! (The person at the front desk was really nice, too.)

Lesley does the best blonde color/highlights in the area! Been coming here for the last year and my hair has never looked better. I have never had anything but perfect highlights and lowlights here. She is a color master!
