17I have used Budget for my professional and personal travels for more than 7 years now. Always satisfied with their car, their staff. Always fast. I wish they would open later on week ends though! Recommend them!
Rented vehicle to drive cross country. Was given lesser vehicle than paid for with no explanation. Staff rude and hurried through process. Handed me the inspection without allowing me to look over the vehicle. Found out that the vehicle was 6,000 miles over due for an oil change when I was renting it to drive 2500 miles. Strongly do not recommend this location.
Be careful with hidden insurance, they don't talk about it and discreetly slip it to you by debiting it from the deposit. Check the @NO PKG ITEMS line on the contract before signing.
1 star because I specifically asked not to have any additional insurance.
Although we were asked at the time of pick up if we needed additional insurance cover and we have declined, the staff added it on our contract and as we were not careful enough when signing the contract (it has been added anyway although we had declined) we had to pay an additional 105$ at the time of drop off…
Very dishonest practice from the budget team. Be super careful on the contract you sign when picking up the rental as they don’t do according to your answers….
At the pick up in Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance, LA, the service was very bad, the workers unfriendly, and the car was not cleaned. We had to wait 50 min until they gave us the car, but it was dirty, full of sand and dust outside. There were several larger damages that were not registered on the voucher, and when we mentioned them, they didnt want to register them, when we insisted they got in a very bad mood.
At the check out they said everything was fine, but we got charged an extra fee of 24 USD, in the receipt its not clearly specified why they charge this. We brought the car back with the full deposit.
Worst rental experience in my entire life. I will never rent from Avis or Budget again. The company is not interested in treating customers fairly and has no interest in listening to their concerns.
Dirty car, long check-in, they asked for thousands of documents, they took time to deliver the car. They charged us $25 for the return, we still don't know why
After picking up the car, I noticed after a short time that the tank was not 100% full. When I returned it, I addressed it and the employee adjusted the rate independently and apologized several times without me having to ask for anything.
That was significantly more than I expected.
As a budget renter I want to help you avoid the common disasters of renting. Do not get their insurance. They are trained to pressure and scare you into buying their unnecessary insurance just to make extra money off of you. If you own a vehicle your insurance will likely cover rentals, just present it and decline theirs. Check with your credit card company as many offer full coverage of the rental vehicle up to $65,000 (does not cover personal injuries to you or other persons or damge to other vehicles, ONLY the rental)
Take photos of the vehicle inside and out, including the gauges to show the mileage and gas, which should be full
When returning the vehicle fill up with gas, save the receipt and turn it into them and also take photos of the receipt and grab a pen and write that you've documented EVERYTHING and that the vehicle is in the same condition. Or just tell the counter rep that you have taken photos of EVERYTHING and gas is FULL
They will think twice about hitting you with scam charges like they did to me when they charged me $240 claiming I returned the vehicle empty on gas
DOCUMENTING EVERYTHING will save your wallet
Also, if the vehicle you're renting is not what you requested DEMAND that they fix it

Racist, if you are a person of color do not go here. I was told my Credit card was declined. I called and was told that it was never ran.had them run it again and was told that the Tesla was no longer available because it had a nail in the tire and it had to go for service.but I know this too was a lie because they didn’t want to rent me that car because of my skin color.as a Manager of a multi billion dollar company I would never accept my employees offering this kind of stereotyping based off of a persons skin color.will never use this company ever again. Wasted a hour and a half of my time.
Horrible customer service. Reserved a 7 seat suv, which they did not have when I went to pick up. They offers a 5 seat suv in its place and at a cheaper rate. When they drew up the contract I was paying as paying more than my original reservation. When I questioned the daily rate Ashley the the rep assisting me said she couldn’t modify my reservation to reflect the cheaper rate. So she gave me a $30 discount to bring the cost down to the original reservation? So where’s the cheaper rate? Rip off. Definitely deserves a call to corporate for a complaint…. I would advise not to rent at this location and if you do look over your contract carefully.
Do not rent from the Torrance location. I reserved two vans for a funeral and they only had one. They made up a story that I booked and SUV originally and then changed it to a Van. Made no sense because I had never rented an SUV and showed them my reservation for both vans. And to add insult to injury, I waited 45 minutes in line to pick up the vans only to find out they only had one!
Torrance Budget rental location staff were exceptional. Rental counter was very busy, but manager went above and beyond to make sure we were 100% taken care of.
Wiper blades were bare, we were driving on highway and chose the option to replace the blades ourselves instead of looking for another budget rental. Customer service agreed to give us $20.00 for the trouble. Submitted the receipt for the blades, the reimbursement process was to credit me ONE blade at a time, each process takes 7 days. Also I never get the $20.00 credit as promised. Incredible!
Make sure to check your wiper blades and gas level when picking up the car, our gas level was only 3/4 full and it was not noted on the inspection paper.
Budget continues to be the most unethical rental company I’ve ever encountered. Bait and switch on rates and insurance. Avoid
First time I rented a car here. Very pleasant experience! Personal is very efficient and friendly, no waiting time and the car received was in a very good condition (new vehicle and cleaned).
Will be switching to their service now whenever in LA Torrance.
