Cabrillo Hospice

Cabrillo Hospice, is far superior to the previous hospice company the hospital referred to us. The supplies come weekly, not every other week; the medication is hand-delivered on the day they are needed or sooner, and the people are simply unbelievable. Carla, the Registered Nurse, visits every week, but she does more than just take vitals: she anticipates her needs, ordering special equipment to keep Momma comfortable, like an electric egg crate-mattress to prevent pressure sores and to promote her comfort. And she talks TO my mother, not just about her, to preserve her dignity, honoring her as a person, which Momma really needs. Zayonna, the Home Health Aide, is so meticulous, cleansing the folds of the ears, under the fingernails, the nostrils, the corners of her eyes, etc.like she is bathing her own mother. Kazar, the Spiritual Advisor, carefully danced around a potentially delicate subject, as he assessed Momma’s level of spirituality. He serenades my mother, with the church song of her choice, at the end of their visits. At 100, Momma is still here, but I could not do this without the help of God, my family, and Cabrillo Hospice.

Can't say enough about the wonderful people who work at Cabrillo. Everyone is responsive and the quality of care is next to none. They really spend time with the families and make sure everything is clear and the process is understandable. This is a great group of caring people.

Our community has been working with Cabrillo for quite a while now, and we only hear good things from our residents. Hillary & Marie are very responsive to our community concerns & requests.

As an executive director of an assisted living and memory care community, we've had the pleasure of working with Cabrillo Hospice for 4 years. Marie, Marilee and Hilary continuously demonstrate their compassion, professionalism and constant communication with the team, residents and family members. Always there when needed, we are very fortunate for our partnership with Cabrillo Hospice.

The service my mom received through Cabrillo Hospice really put myself and my siblings at ease. It made my mom happy to be so well taken care of. At times like this, it is so important to have someone so caring and empathetic as Hilary. She is responsive, very helpful and communicates well. She is the best! Thank you.

A employee RN Clifford Jones was called on from my reaching out to the Hospice Advice 911 emergency phone number when a family member needs assistance for their love one whom was in the process of dieing
As my husband lay suffering in agony screaming Clifford Jones was supposed to come check on my husband. All other calls I had no problems getting a RN In the house that very night within a hour or two of calling in.
When Clifford Jones was routed to our home he kept calling me instead of showing up at my door. He claims I did not answer his calls. Within 5 to 15 minutes each call from him I promptly returned Clifford's calls and we spoke a few times over the phone. During all 3 calls my husband was very agitated and screaming out for help I could not give him alone. Clifford heard this. Yet tells me.you got this.
He also never showed up at all. He did say he was in San Diego with another client and to far away to come travel to San Marcos. He did say for me to ask the dispatcher or his bosses to tell them to have all the visits from RNs whom were closer to my home, and that all his clients were all a hour away from my home.
Thank heavens hospice 911 had great guidance and always sent other RNs in his place.
Clifford Jones doesn't seem to care for the dieing clients suffering nor the family members caring for them.

Only giving 1 star as one is not allowed.
Do not use this hospice. I don't feel they have any urgency when getting back to you.i had to call so many times, literally 3-4 times a day asking for someone to call back and nothing.this is probably part of the reason why they have such a low rating.

-poor leadership
-high caregiver turnover
-terrible communication
-unkept promises
-inadequate (bordering on negligent) care
-not enough clinicians to safely care for patients
-admitting patients who are not appropriate for Hospice (half patients get defaulted with Alzheimer’s dx and on service over a year)

Shady company and all upper management seems to be related

If I could give no stars I would.makes promises and can’t fulfill.
This is a terrible business!

I received services through CABRILLO for six months. Brenda Williams (RN) was an amazing, strong, supportive advocate for my mom from the beginning until my mom passed, I don’t know how I could’ve gotten through the last few months without her. I also appreciate all the staff that helped; Lisa, LOYD, Selena, and the CNAs.
