Super super helpful if you go in person! I’m sure it’s a nightmare on the phone but was in and out of here in 5 min and got all the info I needed! Guy at the desk also said it’s busier at the end of the month so go early to mid if you can

Petition request! Search Rachael Zhang on Facebook at Austin Health, Could you advise how can I lodge complaint actually against the board? They lost my overseas registration license and transcript testamur everything that is breach, the confidentiality which is serious incident. And also the case officer was yelling over the phone call, uncivil and breach the professionalism. It is very bad impression and role model for the future nurses. And she doesn’t know how to access my profile at all, she was confused, asking to send the already sent documents which she lost.

There is absolutely no reason that TEN MONTHS after graduating from nursing school, I am still unable to work in California.

Right after graduating, I sent in my application. They said they hadn’t received my transcript. I resent my transcript. It took them SIX MONTHS to finally get back to me that I was approved to take the NCLEX. By that time I had already opted to get licensed in the state where I graduated in order to be able to take the NCLEX before it changed. After submitting my application in Nevada, it took TWO DAYS to get approved to take the NCLEX. California should take notes.

Then, I had to apply again to get my CA license by endorsement. I submitted everything I needed, and they found a course deficiency with the SAME TRANSCRIPT that they approved for the licensure by examination application. They made a mistake in reviewing my transcript and now I have no idea how long it’s going to take to get that reviewed and fixed. Last time it took 6 months, which would put me out of work for over a year due to their incompetence.

I spoke to someone over the phone. She was very rude and did not listen to me. She kept insisting that I had to wait 10-12 weeks. 10-12 week FOR WHAT? I submitted everything I needed to in the original application they reviewed. THEY MADE THE MISTAKE.

I’m on government assistance. I have a child I need to provide for. I need to work. I worked far too hard and payed too much money getting my nursing degree to be out of work for this long. This is completely unacceptable.

Ten months, two applications, and $700 later, I’m still not licensed to work in the state I live in.

I see the other reviews on here saying the same thing. They claim an emergent nursing shortage yet are doing nothing to help it.

Seriously, is there anything that we can do to effect change with this incompetent government agency? It makes me furious to think of so many other nurses having to go through this too. I’m all ears.

Unresponsive and broken systems of communication. I have been licensed in multiple states and I have never had such a hard time obtaining an RN license by endorsement. I believe California can and must do better.

Take into consideration they are understaffed, overworked, and underpaid (sound familiar?). The wait times are long, the process is not streamlined, and the BreEZe website looks like it was designed by MySpace coders. When you pick up the phone or email the BoN, the person responding has little control over those deficiencies.

For issues regarding course requirements refer to EDP-I-35. It's hyperlinked through their website and also available with a quick internet search. If you meet the requirements but are concerned a clerical error was made when reviewing the transcript, call and provide a return callback phone number or email them.

Be persistent, but patient and professional. If you meet the standards, you'll get your license eventually.

P. S.
Shout out to Gail and Jessica for helping me clarifying course work deficiencies/missing transcripts.

Minus one star: I've had terrible encounters over the past years.
One year, when I renewed my license, they cashed my check but didn't renew my license. I showed them the receipt of the cashed check and they said I had to pay again because they couldn't find my application nor payment. They promised to reimburse me when they sorted it out later. I refused and after many hours of phone calls, I got nowhere so I drove the 2 hours to their office. They were all just hanging out chatting to each other sipping coffee when I arrived. I explained my situation and the women at the front desk turned around, picked up my application from a top of a pile and said "Oh this one? "! It was there all along but they hadn't bothered to look. I then tried to file a complaint with the BBB but they said I couldn't because the BRN is under Consumer Affairs and for some reason you can't file complaints against them.
Another time they renewed my license but didn't update my license in their online license portal. I had the real license card, proof of payment and my completed application but they said there was a glitch and couldn't update the online system. My employer would not accept anything but the online proof of renewed license so I lost 2 days of work until they sorted it out.
This year I applied for an APRN application allowing me to work independently in a group setting. I applied in March 2023. I called each month to check on my status. I finally reached someone who said they were waiting for proof of my national certification (which is easily found online) but they needed an official submission. I asked my certification board to send one and they told me that they had sent one and received confirmation from the CA BRN that they received it in November 2022. I told this to the BRN and they couldn't find that so asked me to submit again. Totally incompetent.

We really need a revamp of the laziest staff in human history. This place is worse than the DMV. I am surprised California has any nurses. Citizens of California will really benefit from a complete replacement of all the staff members.
After unsuccessful hell of trying to reach them over the phone, I decided to drive to the office. They are not busy at all. I believe they shut off the phones. They hang out in the parking lot smoking weed or whatever you wrap in a paper. Not a single sign of what you would expect from a "Board" of one of the most respected profession. It's about time a TV news station does a story on these people. Hopefully someone looks into a petition to replace all the staff, from the top to bottom.

I am calling to initiate legal action against the California Nursing Board due to their slow response, negligence, and stubborn adherence to outdated policies. Happy to organise the Petition!

You should learn from AHPRA in Australia, take a look at how other systems operate, and gain insight into what is efficient and practical. Instead, you're requesting the lowest qualification, disregarding post-registration experience, and focusing excessively on pre-registration supervised clinical hours. What's the point of that? You're also neglecting more recent qualifications and insisting on qualifications from 20 years ago. You're demanding an unreasonable amount of documentation from China, asking to stamp on your English version, and requiring it to be certified by your partners institute ONLY. What is the rationale behind these decisions? I urge you to reconsider your outdated policies, increase your staffing, or overcome your complacency. You currently have one of the worst nursing boards in the world, and you don't deserve to have good nurses in your state!

I'm a Certified Nurse Assistant and I'm having problems reaching someone as well. Multiple emails, phone calls with no response.

Had a very good experience with the California Board of Nursing. I needed a RN licensure by endorsement since I was moving from Ohio. Went into the office in Sacramento and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. RN licensure endorsements usually take about 10-12 weeks but it only took them 8 days to convert my license. I highly recommend going to Sacramento if you need ATT number, RN licensure by endorsement, etc because they will speed up the process for you!

I tried to contacted for two days straight with no answer. I started to call at 7: 58 to be one of the first ones to be in hold. I called 19 times in a roll and they kept saying they were close until 8: 07. When finally my call came thru, the voice mail was full! I tried to reach them again until I was able to contact one of the representatives from the board. When I ask her a question regarding the app they using and details, she did not have a clue, what I was talking about! Is this a joke? Are they even in the USA, or is a simple company who just answer questions and they dont’t even know what information are providing! EXTREMELY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. And they are change in me more than 800 just to review my paperwork. I have send more than 4 emails regarding an important question end they keep responding with a totally different answer! Who we need to speak to in order to obtain a reliable answers and not different answers every single time!

Literally the worst bon I’ve dealt with. Have had everything submitted for months and still show pending. When you call, you can never get a hold of anyone and the call back que is always full. I don’t understand why it takes over 6 weeks to approve a license when everything’s been submitted already! So frustrating!

Honestly, had the same experience as everyone else- turned things in late june but had still not had anything! Then i tried calling middle of the day and ran into the same problem.no call backs available and was not able to stay on line due to high volume.

HOWEVER, decided to call them as soon as they opened the next day and snagged a spot for a call back.was called back by such a nice representative at 11: 30AM! He was able to help locate my things and get it moving! Three days later and my things are processed! I’m happy with the service:) the tricky part is just getting to them! Call when they open if its urgent to get a spot!

It is impossible to get a hold of anyone. I have tried to call multiple times over the course of the last few months and have had no luck. How is this okay?

Licensees beware of unethical practices, and investigation processes. My RN license after 17 years, has been revoked by the CBRN. The CBRN used another license number to reprimand me. Although, the Individuals name is the same as mine the BRN revoked my license, and not the other RN whom the allegations were about.
Beware: There is no way to solve this problem with the CBRN. They have been extremely unhelpful, hard to reach, and claim they never received any correspondence from me.

Even though the disciplinary action was taken against my license with claims of past criminal charges, and other absurd allegations, the CBRN will not correct the error.

So now, I am a single mom of 4, been out of work since April 2023 due to this mess that the CBRN can not even seem to correct.

I have filed complaints with every state, national agency I can possibly think of.

Makes me sad that my career has come down to the CBRN not even linking the correct RN License with the appropriate nurse.
