We refinanced our mortgage in September 2020. The escrow was handled by Lisa Nguyen and California Eagle Escrow. Lisa is a flake and does not keep her word.

The night before escrow was set to close, the notary came to my house to have my wife and I sign the docs. It was at this time that I noticed an issue with the title. We pointed out the problem to the notary, but she suggested we go ahead and sign the docs to avoid any delay in escrow closing. Since we were signing the docs after hours, we were unable to call Lisa to inquire. We were pressed up against the escrow closing date and ended up signing the docs that night.

I called Lisa the following morning and she advised me the same thing. She stated she could not make any changes to the title because doing so would delay escrow from closing. She told me she would redo the title after escrow closed. She agreed to complete the documents and make the corrections to the title, but stated I would have to get the documents notarized myself and I would have to file the docs at the county clerk's office myself. I agreed to this and took her on her word that she would keep her end of the bargain after escrow closed.

However, a week after escrow closed, I called her to inquire about the new title docs. She told me she was busy that week closing other escrow accounts and was unable to process my docs that week. She asked me to call her back the following week when her schedule opened up. I called her the following week, but she again stated she was too busy. This continued on and on, week after week, until it got to the point in which she stopped taking my phone calls. Her secretary took my messages, but she never called me back.

I can't imagine it would take that much time and effort for her to complete the documents to change my title. She probably has the template forms saved on her computer and it's just a matter of filling it out and emailing it to me. Can't be that hard. I already agreed to handle the notarization and filling myself. I was willing to bare the costs and do the let work.

But yet Lisa went back on her word and used excuses to avoid doing what she promised to do. Why would she leave a customer hanging on something as important as the title deed on a property? She is an absolute flake, and I wouldn't trust her for any escrow processes.
