California Museum reviews
16Pretty nice to know this place and to my surprise had a picture of my grandmother Salud Albarico in a beautiful dress n my uncle Clarence Garcia US airforce looking sharp.
Not worth $10. Not a lot on state history, very disappointing. Go to the Sacramento Museum in old town, same price, better displays.
This was a field trip for my son. He had a great time. Loved that they actually had short stories on wall when you pressed on button it would tell you the story. Very informative and easy for kids to understand.
This was my 3rd time visiting here, and now I'm disabled. I use a walker, but it's hard on me to do a lot of walking. The museum has wheelchairs for disabled people and I was VERY appreciative that they let me use theirs to tour the museum! Made the experience much more pleasant.
My fiancee had never been there before and he was very impressed with everything. He really enjoyed the displays and the interactive areas.
The museum wasn't very busy, and it was nice to enjoy everything without feeling crowded. We purchased a few items in the gift shop, and the employees there were very friendly and helpful! We met a sweet lady who had been volunteering there for 14 years and was quite an inspiration!
We can't wait to go again!
I attended the Dia' de Los Muertos reception for a new art exhibition in October. The museum is large and has detailed displays about California women, events, history and more. The reception was held outdoors in their back patio area and it was impressive. The entertainment included native Hispanic dancers, mariachi music, food and drink. Many dressed up for the costume contest. This is a wonderful place for the whole family ️
Learn some California history & the people who made it.
Cal hall of fame also here
Very much enjoyed this museum. Interactive and fun. The little shop is very cute and staff is super friendly. Family was in town and they really enjoyed it.
I’ve been to a lot of museums and this was not interesting to me. There are barely any historical items. Most of the museum is just writing on walls or touch screens. I like looking at cool old stuff.
Went to see the Laos refugee exhibit. Highly informative with great real world examples. Will return!
Had a great afternoon here on a Sunday in August. We (group of 4 adults) got to take advantage of the $2 discount when ordering online (I believe it was for the month of Aug when they were turning over many exhibit areas). Still worth the visit even though we did miss out on a few sections. Really enjoyed all the video and audio and photo displays of influential women. The missions history and huge CA quilt and ceiling mural is beautiful. I’ll definitely keep checking the website to see when new exhibits are open.
Second floor is not a museum at all. It contains no artifacts, filled with modern political propaganda leaflets. The first floor is better, has some old household stuff, some Indian items (much worse than Indian museum)
Had a really meaningful afternoon here. The exhibits on Inspiring women, Japanese internment camps, and Chinese immigrant experience are all well presented and thought -provoking. Lots of info to soak in. They also have a some great interactive/share your perspective components to many of the collections to really engage you. The National Geographic exhibit on plastics and recycling is worth seeing here or at its next stop.
Very interesting, great place to bring kids. Lots of cool exhibitions. There is a parking garage just on the other side of the capital building a short walk from the museum.
It's more of woman's empowering museum than anything. The whole second floor is dedicated to woman and they have very little artifacts of history I would avoid this at all cost.
I go to probably 20 to 30 museums a year and this one ranks towards the bottom of the list. They also have a mask mandate even though we were about the only people in the large place. I did like the exhibit on pollution/litter.
