Dr. J is fantastic, but his terrible office staff earns him this single star. I have had issues with them in the past regarding not refilling routine prescriptions, and then taking weeks to get their stuff sorted out. They often don't answer the phone during their business hours, and they have a penchant for failing to follow up on anything at all. I find that you have to call them daily, sometimes for weeks, before they finally do what they're supposed to. Sadly, in reading other reviews, this seems to be a common, ongoing issue.

Today's experience finally spurred me to give them the 1 star review they desperately deserve. I had a telehealth appointment scheduled for 9AM. I took my own blood pressure and sat diligently at my desk a few minutes beforehand to await the appointment. At 9AM on the dot, I received an automated text and an email asking me to complete some forms and the check in process for an appointment next Monday afternoon. It's like the staff got a pop-up notification at my appointment time this morning, realized it wasn't going to work, and just unilaterally rescheduled it.

Since next Monday won't work with my schedule, I called the office to attempt to resolve the issue. They told me they weren't showing anything for this morning, and they only saw the one for Monday. They were lying. I know this now. After informing them that that would not work, they said Dr. J's next available appointment wasn't until late August, 2 1/2 months from now. I again explained the situation to them, and asked them if they could figure out something earlier given the circumstances. They proceeded to argue with me that Dr. J doesn't even work today, so I shouldn't have had an appointment scheduled for today anyway. Okay, fine, but I did. Then they told me he only comes into that office (Camarillo) on Mondays and Wednesdays. I informed them that it was a telehealth appointment, so which office he is in should not matter. They claimed it did matter, and so there was nothing they could do except book me for something out in August. I asked if there was anyone else I could talk to, and they said they would have their manager call me back. Given their history, I doubt that that will happen.

Well, as I was writing this review, I remembered that Dr. J had provided me the number for his Thousand Oaks office a few months ago. So, I found it and called them, and they were actually honest and helpful. They admitted that they saw the 9AM appointment for today in their system, but, since he is out today, someone rescheduled it. While he does not have any openings available until August, they offered (before I even asked) to send a note to try to work out an earlier appointment given the circumstances. The issue is not resolved yet, but it was nice to speak to someone who sounds like they will at least try to help.

Regardless of the eventual outcome, I'm leaving the single star in place, as this has been an awful experience, and it's not an isolated incident. But, I guess their Thousand Oaks office isn't too terrible. Their Camarillo office, on the other hand, is the absolute worst.
