Carlsbad Coast Apartments

I just moved in with my boyfriend, and so far we love living here! The pool, the gym, the common ares, and our apartment are all in great condition and kept up beautifully by Teresa, our community manager! The area is very quiet, it is near a train but we barely hear it from our apartment. We love the neighborhood - so close to the ocean and walking distance to the village.

*UPDATE as of 8/14/23* Changing my review to be 2 stars. Theresa was fired from the management company that took over this complex, she was an amazing rental manager and they let her go after they raised everyone in the complex's rent the full legal limit upon taking ownership of the complex. The only good part of this complex is the maintenance man, Martin. He was always so helpful and kind. The complex raised our rent, over 2 years, from the starting rate of $2600 for a 2bed 2bath, to over $3400 at the time of our third lease renewal. For a run down old apartment building that was falling apart and had MICE. No improvements were made when Wonder Dog management took control of this complex, they installed "security cameras" in the parking lot that no one needed, and hired 2 people to work in the management office to replace Theresa, both of which never left the office or spoke to anyone directly, only over email. None of their communications were very helpful. Also, the water in this complex is shut off WEEKLY, sometimes more often, for long stretches of the day - so you have no ability to cook, clean, shower, drink water, wash your hands, etc.for hours at seemingly random. Do not move here. Do not waste your time and money. Also, the new people they had move in have what seems to be no understanding of how to live in a complex or respect your neighbors - letting their pets roam the common spaces alone, blasting music at all hours of the day and night, screaming at each other at all hours of the day and night, using the shared doorway entrance as a private balcony, and smoking pot/cigarettes/etc.in their apartments for hours, making your apartment also smell and fill with smoke. Please do not give Wonder Dog Management your money.

2023 Update:
We have lived here for almost 2 years now. We love it here and have grown spoiled to live walking distance to the beach and shops. We got in at a good time so our rent is good. I feel safe here and neighbors are very nice. Dog friendly!
I can say that the train doesn’t bother us as much anymore. Paying for laundry still sucks but some of the newer units do have laundry in unit.

I would definitely recommend living here.

We love living here! Can’t beat the location. Walk to beach and Carlsbad Village shops/restaurants in minutes. Great neighbors and wonderful staff that keep our community clean, safe, and are eager to help whenever needed. Thanks Teresa and Gustavo! The only negatives: the train tracks are right behind the building which is where our bedroom is…I suppose we may get used to it. And it’s a community laundry room. $4 a load!
However I would definitely recommend living here. A lot of people have dogs!

Great location and amenities. Daniel has been an absolute rock star to work with and is by far the best property manager I have ever dealt with. He genuinely cares about the tenants.

I have loved living at Carlsbad Coast so far. The location is amazing and so close to the beach and downtown. Daniel has been so awesome and is always very prompt if I need anything. Definitely the best community I have lived in!

We've been living here for the past four years. The location is perfect, two blocks from the beach and walking distance to the village. The apartment has been great all the amenities work and if there is an issue it is taken care of. The new onsite property manager, Daniel, is super friendly and approachable. The best part has been the property is super pet friendly.

**Update**
Carlsbad Coast is under new ownership as of Fall 2022 and while we did experience a few changes (new payment system, new utility accounting), overall it’s been a pretty smooth transition. We also added Property Management staff, going from 1 to 2 which has been really nice. Our new PMs are lovely and are the quiet backbone of our community. Our maintenance staff are very friendly and also drive to keep the noise levels low. I’ve been here since winter 2018 and overall I’m pretty happy here. The location is wonderful and is exactly what beach life should be.

I moved to Carlsbad Coast Apartments in December 2018 and love it! They did experience a change in management shortly after I moved in so I cannot speak to how it was before that but Teresa has been a total gem! It’s clear she cares about the property and her residents, especially the 4 legged ones. She’s always on top of the upkeep, says good morning every day and gives my pup an unlimited amount of love. The property may be a little older but it is in good shape; they are constantly doing renovations and are quick to address any maintenance issues.

I cannot say enough about the location! You can have your toes in the sand within a 4 minute walk or be in the middle of The Village and Coaster within 10ish. The Coaster does run right by the property but is barely noticeable after a week or so. As some have stated it is a compact location and noise can travel but most people are mindful of that so it is really peaceful. Overall I am a lucky girl to live in such a beautiful town and I am happy to call CCA home.

I have lived here for two years now and would definitely recommend this apartment complex to others. It's beautiful inside and out, and is kept really clean. Daniel in the office is so nice to work with and responds to any issue quickly and thoroughly. He and Marti make it really a nice atmosphere around the entrance and do an excellent job managing. I really appreciate how they care because they are residents too. This place is a gem in Carlsbad and so close to the ocean but also tucked away from the main roads. It's awesome!

Update after living here 2yrs. Just under 1yr ago the property got a new owner and new property manager, Daniel. He & his wife sincerely care about the property and tenants and my experience has still been great. Maintenance is quick, usually the same day, though I've only had 2 minor issues, and I still walk my dog by the front office daily for a treat and to chat as long as Daniel isn't on the phone. Rent has increased, but everywhere else I've looked is similar in price or an obviously run down complex. I like coming home to a well lit and clean complex, it really makes a difference. Carlsbad Coast is a great place to call home.

This place is just amazing. Moved in 3 months ago and couldn't be happier. Walk to the beach, bars, restaurants, live music, and everywhere is incredibly dog friendly. I love walking home from the beach and people who have been looking for parking for 30+ min ask if I'm leaving. Sorry no, we live here.

Teresa, manager, and Gustavo, maintenance, are super friendly and I say hi to them daily. My dog loves stopping by the office before or after a walk for a treat. It's obvious they really care about the property and it shows in how well maintained it is.

I love living at Carlsbad Coast. Daniel is amazing and very responsive with any maintenance requests. The exterior is very well kept as well. It is a very safe and friendly place to live! I recommend to everyone.

This place is so quiet, clean, and well maintained. The community managers Daniel and Martha are very kind and professional. I’ve lived here for a long time, and it was a smooth transition when they arrived. I feel like everything is taken care of in my home.
