Caroline’s is located on a sunny upper-level balcony, across from the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, with gorgeous views of the La Jolla Shores. It’s a counter service cafe, where you order your food at the counter before taking your number to any table of your choice.

The line is always long here, but it does move fairly fast. Definitely carve out some time (10-15mins) to stand in line, unless you order food to-go.

Caroline’s is the perfect place to enjoy a casual brunch/lunch with friends and family. The menu features pancakes, egg dishes, sandwiches, pastries, salads, and soups, plus a variety of beverages including beer, wine, mimosas, coffee, Snapple, and more. We enjoyed the butternut squash panini with truffle butter, blueberry pancakes (although these needed a lot more blueberries), and a tuna fish sandwich.

Real good food and amazing views. Parking isn’t great unless you’re a student or on weekends.

The main reason to go is the location and ocean view however every meal I've had here has been tasty. Recommended for lunch or breakfast.

Pastries bomb. The food is alright.omelette are the way to go though, so are the mochas. But the view is well well worth it. You definitely come for the ocean view. And come early. The line can be long.

This place is a hidden gem! It's on a balcony that faces La Jolla Shores. The workers are a little quite, but polite. They will pour you a beer in an ice cold cup. The food looked absolutely amazing. We came here for coffee and drinks. We will be coming here for lunch one day. I will rewrite my review when we try the food. I won't write anymore because you have to see it for yourself!

So I came here for lunch this week, the views were spectacular. The burger was good but the fries tasted like they had been sitting out for a bit. Lunch rush, so I didn’t send it back. I only took off a star for the service since it took 30 minutes for my burger. Great place!

I had the Albacore tuna melt and it was Very tasty! Along with that I had a grapefruit Mimosa, and for comparison I I also tried the Orange Mimosa. I believe the grapefruit Mimosa was much better in my opinion.
The staff is very friendly and the views of the ocean are amazing!
There are many options to choose from on the menu and the prices are very reasonable for how much food is served.
I am a very happy and full customer of Caroline's seaside Cafe

Arrived and ordered the brisket dish with eggs. It was fine. Iced coffee was fine. The older woman who came to clear my plate told me I couldn’t work on my laptop here. I was finishing my coffee and had pulled out my laptop to reply to some emails. I let her know that I’m still finishing my meal. I told her I would be gone shortly and she said she didn’t need a time frame.

"there goes half our day" - overheard from the table behind us.
Don't go here expecting a quick lunch on the weekends. The 45 minute wait to order, ok I get it. But after ordering, it took more than 45 minutes to get our food. The food ended up being quite good but it loses all of that goodwill by taking up half your day. Also important to note this place has mostly breakfast food and simple sandwiches, not sure what takes so long in the kitchen.

One of the worst experiences I’ve had in a long time.we waited for over an hour to get in (not unusual for a brunch spot) then placed our order and sat at the pre designated table. The table that was chosen for us by the staff, was the only table directly in the sun. It was also a communal table. I saw 2 different parties that had been placed there as well move to other open tables in the shade. Seeing this, I asked a lady in a black sun hat, that was bussing, if we could move. Her response was short and rude. She told us we were not allowed to move. I was sweating and uncomfortable being in the direct sun for an hour. I finally got my food, but unfortunately had to wait an extra 20-30 minute for my friend to finally get hers. It was so hot and uncomfortable that we didn’t finish our food and left. The restaurant should have foreseen this given that it’s an open patio and no one wants to be in directly under the sun, sweating while trying to enjoy their food. An umbrella would’ve been nice. After leaving my friend noticed she had left her phone. We went back to get it and the rude lady, with black hair, wearing a big black sun hat rolled her eyes, when we asked if she had found a phone at the table we were just at. Terrible experience. Rude and mean lady who seems to hate her job. Do NOT recommend. Will NEVER go back

A cute seaside cafe with great food. Their portions sizes are amazing. Pretty crowded for Sunday brunch. The tables are on first cum first serve basis.

We parked in the only parking lot that was close by with my elderly father to eat here and when we returned they had given us a parking ticket. We did not see anyplace else to park. The food was good but not worth it if they are not going to allow you to park next to the restaurant

This is a great place to have breakfast. A scenic ocean view while enjoying your breakfast. They have great service and very fast and friendly staff. We were going back here some other times. We went here around 9am so it was not so crowded yet. Lunch time will be a little busy. If you plan on driving here, find a street parking, most people will go to the beach for surfing so it may take some time to find a parking.

My go to place for brunch in La Jolla. I’ve been coming here for years!

The food is delicious. We always order the Mediterranean scramble eggs and the pancakes (so fluffy)

You need to order first, and then get grab a table. I recommend going during the week, but if you go on a weekend go early if you don't want to wait in long lines.

Food and view are really good but coffee sucks. They also need to clean the windows inside.
