Mexican Restaurant Castillo's reviews
17Shredded chicken tasted like entire container of salt was poured in it. Waitress was great, brought me simple cheese enchiladas-cheese wasn’t even melted inside it and plate was cold to touch. She told me they had no margaritas, yet as we were leaving, table next to us ordered margarita on the rocks and he got it. Zero social distancing with every table full. Skip and go somewhere else.
This definately isnt mexican food! @ the salsa was just some runny chopped up tomatoes with zero spice.the tacos were soaked through and soggy. The broke apart when we picked them up.
The most not mexican place around.
If you come to mariposa and want good food, go to Nayo's next to the liquor store! They are amazin. Ive taken my family there the last three nights in a row!
Have been there many times where I have not been disappointed by my choices. Although they tend to be on the <mild side, they're happy make it hotter for ya.
What is normally a really great place to go was not in so great this time. The beans tasted burnt and my friend's fajitas tasted like teriyaki chicken. I think they must've gotten a new cook, but it's hard to say. Needless to say, I was a little disappointed this time and I used to really enjoy going there. I think if you go early enough, everything would be great. Just don't order the fajitas.: (
Waitress was friendly. Chairs were stuck to the floor. That should have been our first clue. I had the chicken nacho plate for dinner and my bf had chicken chimichanga. Everything was so globbed together I couldn’t tell you how it tastes. It was so salty, everything but the chips, strange. Both of us went straight to our hotel room to get sick. Here it is two days later and still feel horrible.
If you like time on the toilet.you might like this place. I definitely did not.
Choose wisely.or at least wiser than we did. Don’t eat here.
Excellent food for very reasonable prices. Cute restaurant right off the main drag in beautiful downtown Mariposa. As of Sat, Nov 28 indoor dining was allowed but will be more restrictive due to COVID-19 starting Sunday the 29th.
I love Castillo's. I've been going there for years and Holly is one of the main reasons! It always feels good when someone recognizes your voice on the phone or stops by to talk to you and have them know your child is so old now they are off in college. The food is good and the atmosphere is great! Highly recommend!
Gregorio just to be the owner in 1992 i was the. Cook at the time and manager for 1,400,00 a months. Gregorio was most of the time on hunting trips. I never like the fat stinky owner do i quite became a truck driver and never went back Rafael corona and jaime Ruelas wore the best cooks in town in the 90, s
It's a very small restaurant, but do have outside seating. This place has been there for many years and always great food and service. The owner is spectacular and always has a smile in her face and is so sweet. Highly recommend. Best Mexican food in our town.
Service was good, and the patio is nice. The food was nothing to get excited about. There aren’t a lot of better alternatives in the area though, so I’d be willing to go back.
I wouldn't call this 'authentic' Mexican food - definitely Americanized version. But the food was decent and reasonably priced. However I guess the placed closed at 8 tonight. The lady said 'no rush' and handed us the bill but as soon as I tipped and gave it back she proceeded to shut the lights off in the outdoor dining area we were seated. No mention that they were closing and coulda just let me know lol. I found that quite rude.
Tl;Dr 'American' Mexican food - fine for the price I guess but rude staff killed it
I have only eaten here once and to be fair, sit down dining was not an option because of COVID regulations. I had a full meal including salad but had it to go out of necessity. So the meal was fair, was disappointed in guacamole, was not freshly made and was thin and watery. The rice did not have what I considered a Mexican flavor. I may try again but will be selective in my choices based on my first experience. I believe sit down dining is now allowed which would greatly improve the dining experience.
Friendly, fast, and resilient. When we went it seemed everything went wrong in the background but the amazing folk tapped into their resilience and all we noticed as customers was flavor packed well priced food.
Wholly recommend visiting if you need to fuel up after a long day in the woods.
This spot clearly knows how to take care of their customers. Regularly with a kind attitude. The food is affordably priced, regularly flavorful and clean.
Unfortunately not very great Mexican food. The fajitas were oddly seasoned with a strange and very salty sauce, and for some reason the tamales were smothered with an enchilada sauce. The salsa however was great and fresh. I feel the ingredients were fine but the recipes need some solid tweaks which would make a big difference.
This restaurant is obviously one of the tastiest place to eat in the neighborhood. Every time I come to this place I am very pleased. They always keep their very high standard service and the highest level of dishes they give. You can never go wrong with this restaurant. Highly recommended.
I like this restaurant! They serve tasty meals, their menu is large, The chef in that restaurant is a real authority in the kitchen, I love very much trying all their dishes. The food is consistently fresh, the attitude towards the customers is nice. I go often to this place and I was never unsatisfied. I recommend it with no hesitation.
