My regular vet could not see my cat, but they recommended CVAA. I’m glad they did. My cat ended up having diabetes, and we now have a new vet. I’m switching my dogs over to CVAA as well. I especially appreciate that they are open on Sunday.

I personally feel like they are only in it for the $$$! Surgery seems to ALWAYS be the answer with these guys! Nope there are much better vet in the area. I went to multiple vets asking for their opinions on if surgery was the best solution and each response was the same, they were confused and concerned on why that was the answer.

Went to this vet for the first time a few weeks ago with my cat who has had ongoing respiratory issues that keep coming back. I initially thought that the appointment went ok, minus some red flags that I noticed - the front desk receptionist did not know what Royal Canin prescription food was, for example. I thought that it was strange that a receptionist at a vet clinic lacked that common knowledge. They also brought my cat out without his carrier, "forgetting" that we brought him in a carrier, and then went on to talk about a patient who lost their cat at the clinic because they didn't bring a carrier for the cat and the cat ran into traffic. It made me uneasy that this has occurred in the past and they're still allowing cats to be out of the carrier in their waiting room.

Because of these two occurrences, I decided to go to a different vet for a second opinion. It turns out that Castro Valley Animal Hospital neglected to check my cat's mouth during his exam, and he has severe gingivitis that didn't only appear recently - it's been an ongoing issue. If CVAH did a thorough exam on him, I would've known about this much sooner.

I will never return to this vet as they seem inexperienced and negligent.

The only good thing about this place was the girls at the front they were great the vets and the techs were very rude unprofessional and just down right horrible tried telling me i needed a test that was over $400 took my dog to another vet and they said a test was not even needed and was able to treat my dog right away

Please choose a different vet - especially in an emergency! I brought my overall very healthy dog in after vomiting all day long and was immediately unimpressed by the front desk staff/techs unhelpful, unfriendly demeanor. We did labs and xray and were sent home overnight to wait on results. On the way home I saw all the awful recent reviews I wished I’d seen sooner. I got a call in the morning from a different vet saying my pup had jaundice, pancreatitis, and an obstruction requiring emergency surgery and a four night stay. I was quoted over 8k. Thankfully, I work in human medicine and knew for a fact my dog was not jaundiced, and could very clearly see massive improvement in symptoms overnight (no more vomiting). Between my personal opinion and the recent reviews on this vet, I took him to VEG in San Ramon for a second opinion and thank God I did. Here I was told he was NOT jaundiced, and he did NOT have pancreatitis - all his slightly abnormal labs were easily explained by his vomiting all day long. The vet was so confident in this that she didn’t even draw repeat labs. We also did a repeat xray which showed NO obstruction - there was a small piece of something that has moved to his colon compared to the day prior which she said he should (and he eventually did) pass on his own. He required no intervention of any kind. He is home, happy and healthy unlike he would have been if I had trusted the people at Castro Valley Animal Hospital. If you need a STELLAR emergency vet recommendation, please consider making the drive to VEG in San Ramon. They were incredible for so many reasons.

Doctor only cares about the money. Giving outrageous quotes for simple tasks. Never going there again. The area has better vets. I’ll be taking my business somewhere else.

Horrible experience and the workers are just trying to get as much money out of you. Extremely rude and disrespectful towards other workers there. Would never go back

Used to take my corgi here but after they moved to the new location, they seem to care about taking your money more than anything. There are plenty other great vets in Castro Valley and I will not recommend any of my friends to take their pets here.

While I appreciate that they were able to fit me and my puppy in last minute I would never come back. I don’t think anyone should bring their sick pet here if they can help it. They don’t allow you to go back with your pet where the vet is and you barely speak to a vet. They provide little information on what exam they were performing and barely explained any of the results. They were more interested in me signing on how much I would pay than telling me if my dog was okay while I hear him agonizing inside. When he was handed back to me he had pooped all over his carrier and was sitting in it - they had just left him that way! How awful. I feel he was more traumatized by the visit vs the reason we came In.

As many other reviews have mentioned this place is all about money. The only reason why I went here was because of Luis, one of the vets assistan, he has been the only one able to handle my reactive dog. I will dearly miss him.
“Dr Brar” misdiagnosed two of my dogs. I’ve filed a complaint to the Veterinary Medical Board.

This establishment is a for the $$$ not a for the pet vet. I brought my cat here with an ear infection. The young male vet told me that my cat would need to be put under and have his ear cleaned out. He said that they could do it that day while I waited. He asked if I would like to go forward with the procedure and if I would like a quote. I said yes to the quote and he went into the back to work the numbers. A young female vet tech then came back into the room with a quote of $620.00…. I said no, please give me my cat. I then drove two hours north to my dads vet and had his ear fixed for $150.00 and that included a special emergency fee because I was a walk in. My cat healed just fine and is doing awesome! I am 55 years old and have had pets my entire life…I KNOW VETS…. I know all about the play on sympathy money making vets…. I also know about real vets that actually care about the animals…

Took my puppy there today for a leg injury. The doctor said the dog won't tell me where it hurts so we will need x-rays. I said okay to the 770.00. For x-rays only to be given my puppy back with no answers didn't even get to talk with anyone. Was told to take her home they call later? What if it's serious? She is in obvious pain and limping. And your just going to take my money and send her home and do nothing. How Wonderful and caring of you. Not!

They tried everything they could to save my precious boy Judah. They were very compassionate and kind.

I took him to 4 other vets and they are the only ones who knew what was wrong with him. Sadly though it was to late!

I am picking up a new pup and these wonderful people are the only ones that will take care of him!

You will get one price over the phone, just to get you in. When you show up, you you’ll get another price; we got 100% more expensive price. If you reject it, they will still charge you $55 for “examination”. What a style…

I took my cat there because she was inactive and scratching a lot. My first time there. The receptionist took her to see the vet. I waited in the waiting room. The vet came out about a half hour later and talked to me. She said Ariel could have fleas. They took some tests and told me i would get a call from vet later about the results.
I got a call and was told Ariel was ok. The test results were not ready yet. She would call the next day.
No call. I called them. No results yet. I told them please call asap.
Very unprofessional. I called again and was hung up on. Not ok.
My cat passed away. I wont go back there again.

Please please please DO NOT take your pet here. I was shocked when my dog returned home yesterday from an ear hemotoma surgery with NO dressing or bandage on the wound and the ear was completely bloody. What kind of doctor sends an animal home with no bandages after a $1400 surgery!? ! There were also no printed after care instructions, just a bag of pills and a very disoriented dog. We tried to call that night because we were so concerned about their lack of care but no one answered the phone. We called back this morning at 8am and were told we would get a call back from a vet or vet tech when they arrived at 9am. It is almost 2pm and we are still waiting. Tried to call back but we were put on hold.

Seriously, even in an emergency do NOT take your pet here. I am so so sad to read about the owners whose pets have died under the care of this clinic. I am truly disturbed by my experience and will never subject my dog to this clinic again. Castro Valley Animal Hospital staff should truly be ashamed - they do not care for animals.

We have been coming here for a few years and their service continues to deteriorate. The latest issue included trying to get critical heart medication for my dog that they prescribed. They offered no help or support in getting the medication and just said “we don’t have it”.

Just like what other reviews are saying, this doctor only cares about money! He first said my dog’s ears are not infected, then said they are infected. I asked why he said that and he replied with “I don’t know”. I asked him if he can show me what materials to use on my dogs ears and he said, “that takes too much time. I can’t do that”. He made me buy antibiotics and pain relievers when my dog did not need them. Avoid this clinic! Although the staff was nice, the doctor cares about money. Will not be going back.

Kitchie Dasalla died tonight. He was released from your care in Friday. He wasn't even brought out to us in his crate I had to ask for it. His bandage was so tight that his paw swelled to 5 times it's size. He was thin and had cuts on his nose and scabs all over his arms. I was shocked by his appearance. I felt betrayed by you as I entrusted his care to you. He quickly deteriorated. I am angry because I believe that I should have been advised to not prolong his life with further treatment. I believe that your hunger for money was more important than the quality of my dog's life. You took advantage of my vulnerability. Now I have lost my pet and owe over $3,000.00. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
I will be going further with my complaint. This will not stop here.
You have destroyed my faith and trust and I will never forget it. I will tell everyone about your money grubbing ways.

They don’t pick up the phone! Have their teen employees work with the customers. Brought my puppy to get neutered, they did a poor job stitching the wound, which eventually got infected and had to be restitched. Gave me the wrong size e collar. They charged me for after care. The main doctor brings her kids to work! Very unprofessional.
