Cafe CHALOS reviews
17Very cute all day cafe with empanadas and some of my favorite things: Sightglass coffee and Barebottle beer on tap. Clear that this place really cares about authenticity and quality ingredients.
I’m Argentine American and always on the lookout for great emanadas in the Bay Area. After trying pretty much every empanada spot around, I can confidently state that Chalo’s is the best in town. Here’s why: you can choose between fried or baked (this is a key element that every other spot misses the mark on, usually only offering baked). The ingredients are always top notch and flavorful, a great selection of meats and veggies, and they serve sandwiches, churros, and a great coffee. They have a roomy, comfortable atmosphere, bright and relaxed. Every time I drive across town to snack on some and pick up some semi baked ones to take home, the husband and wife owners are always there at the counter. As a small business owner myself, that right there speaks to their hands on approach to their customers.
Great place, well worth the drive out to the beach.
Great ambiance, super friendly owners/ workers. The food is great and fairly priced. Comes out hot and fast. Perfect pit stop after a day of biking or surfing, or if you’re just passing through.
The empanadas taste really good, but they are too small. I don't feel like I got value for the money.
Stopped by after a morning soccer game to try this place. Delicious empanadas - light, flaky crust and the Chalo and sweet beef haf great flavor. The owner made a great cappuccino.
Tried 4 different empanadas - favorites were carne dulce, followed by carne picante. Also enjoyed the churros of course! Great spot. Will be back.
Love love love their breakfast burritos with bacon! Best paired with their churro for dessert!
The spicy chicken empanadas is ok but I wish it's more flavorful.
The corn is a bit bland to me.
However, the overall environment and food is good
I recently tried Chalos' Empanadas and I'm absolutely blown away! These empanadas are a true taste of culinary artistry. Each bite bursts with flavor, and the variety of fillings is mind-blowing. From the classic beef to the Chalos special (artichoke, cheese, bell peppers and ham), there's something for everyone. The crust is perfectly flaky, and you can tell that every empanada is made with care and passion. The staff is warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Chalos has become my go-to spot for a delicious, satisfying meal. Don't miss out on this gem!
This place has the best breakfast burritos in town! Perfectly charred tortilla and filled with delicious tater tots.
The empanadas are also great, I tried the carne dulce it was really sweet and flavorful!
The service is on point, always super welcoming and clearly care about the food they put out, we'll be coming here for a long time
I came here with my friend on a monday around 1: 00pm and the place wasn't busy. The service was great, the owners are very friendly and you can tell they care about the place and their costumers. You can order through a tablet or with the cashier. The place has a few tables, and a couch area to sit and enjoy the food. My friend and I liked our empanadas a lot. My favorite one was the spicy beef empanada and my friends was the chicken empanada. The empanadas where juicy, flavorful and fresh. We will definitely come back to try the churros:)
I ordered in person at the counter, a small order of food to go, and after 25 min of waiting they told me that they lost my ticket. I decided to get a refund and leave
Authentic, tasty and healthy lunch spot in neighborhood. Parking a little rough but worth the walk.
Best breakfast burrito in town! They’re huge, and the tater tots make it perfect for a hungover weekend breakfast.
Wow I was not expecting this to be so dang tasty!
I stumbled across Chalos as I was super early for my interview.i figured maybe get a coffee and possibly an empanada. Oh boy was I taken back. The staff here is super friendly and recommended that I get the latte. Then I sprung for the spicy empanada. The vibe here is nice lots of seating but not over crowded. I sat at the big table so I could go over my notes. But instead I started to write this review. The latte came out nice and hot with amazing taste. Then a few minutes later the empanada arrived. Very crispy but a soft crisp the filling was delicious very flavorful. Well if I get the job in the area I will be a regular!
Churros are really good, quite doughy. Empanadas are yummy. Got the spicy beef and the ham and cheese, option to bake or fry.
