Charlie's Best Bread reviews
15The bread shop was low on bread? But its a bread shop so that was weird.we got a ciabatta square but it was cold and stale
Wow! The cookies, scones, and muffins here are fantastic. The muffin was moist. The cookie was crumbly on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside. The scone was the same, nice and soft on the inside. Everything was so fresh and tasty. It’s now one of my favorite breakfast spots in PB.
I asked for the grilled cheese sandwich and got a LAUGHABLE version of it. There was almost no cheese and the little cheese in there wasn't really melted. It looked like Cheez Whiz. Avoid this terrible sandwich!
I’m currently in my search for the best blueberry scone in San Diego. This is a strong competitor.
Got a grilled cheese and vanilla latte. The cheese was poor quality considering the price of the sandwhich and the latte was powdery. Would not recommend this place. Don’t have any plans to return.
Humongous and delicious cookies, French pastries and bread. Its one of the best bakeries in PB.
Searching for a good spot to expend little time in the morning by enjoy a delicious croissant and hot chocolate Charlie’s bread it’s a good place for those who’s enjoy everything in Bread
I orginally came to Charlie's Best Bread for my never ending search for the best cinnamon rolls. I had heard many people rave about them. I will say their cinnamon roll is amazing but I don't love their icing. I wish they would make a cream cheese icing option! I've been back to try other baked goods. Muffins and cookies. All good but yet to have tried something that I just can't wait to back for. It is always busy and the staff is super friendly! Overall a great bakery just waiting patiently for cream cheese icing
If you want to find the biggest cookies and scones of your life check this place out, the baked goods will last you multiple days! Loved the berry scone and oatmeal choc chip cookies, the staff said to warm it up!
I got a “Real Sourdough” loaf and, firstly, most of their loaves are pre-sliced in 1/2”slices (-1 star) and the bread tasted like dry white bread, like it wasn’t even trying to be sourdough (-1 star). 3 stars because I am nice & their scones look real good (but maybe also too big?). Not sure what this place is but a confused bakery and my disappointment in San Diego bread lives on… (so far Hommage is the best on the coast between OB & La Jolla but always sells out early).
Haven't ever walked into this bakery Cafe before. Let me say that I went in this morning and got a coffee and a croissant. So buttery flakey.yum! Espresso with a croissant from here is just right for your soul!
A great place for bread-heads like me. Full size dense white breads for your PB&J sandwiches, rosemary herbed bread for your deli.
Most of the staff are very nice and the coffee is amazing, I really like their pizza slices and croissants. However I can’t leave the full 5 stars one of their newer staff members attempted to charge for a little extra half and half splash on coffee the coffee is decently price above the average price for a regular brewed coffee cup. I been to many coffee shops and none of them ever charge to add a little extra half and half. She look at me expecting me to settle for that tab but I wouldn’t and was ready to take my business to Starbucks where they gracefully add and steam the extra halt and half at not additional charge. She eventually change my tab but look upset for not being able to enforce her additional fee which none of the other employee have previously charge in the past. I believe better customer service should be acknowledged because I get more for my money at chain businesses but I like to support local family own businesses.
For the bakery that’s well known for cinnamon rolls. They should not run out of it by 11am, for weekday and for some of us that have to drive an hour to get there is very disappointing. I can understand by 2pm. We shouldn’t have to call ahead to see. The store does not close till 7pm. We won’t be going back, it’s a hassle getting there because of traffic in main street also.
Charlie's is simply the best. The service is always helpful, quick, efficient, and kind. I go there 2-3 times/week and never am I waiting longer than 10 minutes, even when it's super busy.
In terms of the product. The real sourdough bread is my go to and I have tried sourdough from multiple bakers in the area and they don't touch charlie's. Now onto the Scones, these things are delightful. Filling, fun to eat, not too sweat. Just perfect. Finally the Oatmiilk Latte. I will drive past 10 coffee shops all that I have tried for Charlies. Another product they just do better than anyone else around this area. Love this place. Keep it up Charlie's. I appreciate you.
