My wife and I stayed here for three nights and were very impressed with this hotel! It was super clean and there are so many staff there that help you and assist you when needed. We had a beautiful room overlooking the front beach. Our room was very clean, and the staff are so helpful with any questions or concerns we had. We will come back soon and recommend the hotel to my friends.

Fantastic service, well-rounded staff, and amenities are complete. This hotel is really one of the best when it comes to giving comfort to its guests. The overall experience I had from this place was all worth it because the foods, services, and anything else were provided with no delays. A truly wonderful place to stay! Very worth it!

The place was fantastic and old, just as described. Made me feel like going back in time a bit, my party stayed for almost a week in the lower two bedrooms. Staff was great, the wine and cheese was great in the evenings too after strolling the city and the morning breakfast was great with the large dinning room table. Beautiful place!

Complimentary breakfast was well above average. Only downside was the bed wasn't very comfortable in my opinion.

I am thrilled to have Chateau Tivoli right down the street from my apartment for when my network of travelers, friends and family come to stay in San Francisco. The history is rich is this classic Painted Lady Victorian, and gives all my travelers a true, unique San Francisco experience. The inn keeping staff provides excellent service and attention to anything my guests need - and the breakfast and happy hours are lovely and delicious. For so long I was not tuned in to this B&B even though it was so close, but with all of the recent upgrades, improvements, love and care that has gone into it recently, I can't wait for my next guests to spend their stay there so I can enjoy it again and again.

Nice place, wasn't sure about the location - but it was a great stay.
The front desk was amazing. The people were the friendliest around and helped out with every question we had.

We left our hearts in San Francisco’s Chateau Tivoli! What a wonderful & beautiful weekend spent in the grandest of all the Victorian Painted Ladies of San Francisco. Kelly and her team worked hard to ensure that my husband and I would have a most unforgettable weekend at this historical and greatly loved establishment. We arrived about 2 hours before check in time expecting only to leave our luggage while out and about on the town. When we entered the majestic parlor/lobby, we did a double take as the photos the Chateau Tivoli do not do her justice! So much attention to detail in the architecture, wood work, furniture pieces, antiques, stained glass windows, wow! I especially loved looking at the photographs that were taken of the château before her renovation began in the 1980’s. I had read about the history of the chateau but seeing her transformation in photos is clear that so much love and care went into the resurrection of this gorgeous landmark. And great news- our room was ready so we could unpack our belongings and experience the room for the first time. Our reservation was a bit last minute meaning we booked about a week before our weekend getaway to celebrate my husband’s milestone birthday. The only room available at the time of booking was the Lucia Tetrazzini – the most romantic and lovely of all the rooms the Chateau Tivoli has to offer. It is the room that had we had our pick of them all, would have been our first choice! I mean, who doesn’t love a room named after a famous opera star! My husband and I both love all things vintage and the arts, so you can imagine our delight when we walked into the gorgeous suite room! We took our time taking it all in and looking at each detail from the ceiling featuring Greco/Roman representations of earth, fire, wind and water to the wood carvings of the headboard of the canopy bed. Had the velvety antique parlor settee fit in my luggage, I would have brought her home! ;) Much to our delight we found out that on the weekends champagne breakfast is served simply by signing up the day before. The next morning Kelly, the chateau manager, greeted us with her warm friendly smile and uncorked a bottle of champagne to compliment our breakfast. We had the most delicious French toast, with perfectly prepared bacon and fresh berries! I mentioned to Kelly how berries are my favorite and she later brought me an extra side of raspberries & blackberries. So thoughtful! After a full day of seeing the sights including Alamo Square just down the street amidst other Painted Ladies, we returned and helped ourselves to 3 different types of cheeses, crackers, dried fruit, nuts, and oh yes, a choice of red or white wine! We took advantage of the chess set in the parlor while enjoying our wine & cheese. The only thing missing was the sound of classical music or even opera playing from a gramophone! Our final morning (the day of my husband’s birthday) we enjoyed another delicious breakfast of fresh broccoli cheese quiche and salad greens. I had forgotten to sign us up on the breakfast list, but Kelly had us covered. We met the nicest people sitting at the long dining room table representing Germany, Australia and New Jersey. Our breakfast club joined in on singing happy birthday to my husband. Once again, we served champagne and toasted to the birthday boy. We were able to leave our luggage while enjoying our last day in SF and returned about an hour before needing to leave for the airport. Kelly invited us to make ourselves at home in the parlor even though we had checked out earlier in the morning. We were so happy to stay & sit just a while longer at the chateau. We are so grateful to Kelly and her team for such a hospitable experience. There is no where else we would ever want to stay, and we look forward to returning soon to reclaim our hearts stolen by the opulent and elegant Victorian Painted Lady- Chateau Tivoli.

This is a unique place to stay. It is in a nice part of San Francisco about 5 minute walk from the painted ladies. The rooms are lovely, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is delicious and you get to meet fellow travellers and share interesting stories as you eat breakfast together. At the end of a long day there is free wine and cheese. So much better than staying in a hotel.

Old Victorian style spot right in the middle of the town. Amazing breakfast with everything homemade including hummus which tasted incredible. Only caveat is parking by the street. We got a spor far away and had to walk dragging our huge suitcases all along.

I really can't speak highly enough of this place. There is so much of San Francisco's history between those walls, coupled with a beautiful Victorian aesthetic. This is our go-to hotel in the area because my sister lives nearby. They always take good care of you. Try not to have a car if you can help it, the parking can be difficult.

A perfect B&B in the heart of San Francisco. The only thing lacking was a full breakfast instead of a Continental breakfast.

The room was beautiful and the location is nice and quite. The bed was comfortable and I had a great night sleep. However, the reason I’m rating this place 4 out of 5 stars is for two reasons. When I walked into the room it smelled musty and old, there was no fresh smell and it smelled exactly like a dusty attic. The room I stayed in cost over $300, so you would think the property would offer better breakfast options than they did. On the plus side, the location is not far from restaurants with better breakfast options.
