To visit and enjoy the super fresh food I really liked the coleslaw as well!
I had a great weekend here, my dad has since passed away this will always be somewhere I’ll have to visit to remember him thank you Chef John for the memory and great fish and chips

I have had many fish and chip dishes in my lifetime, but I have to say, this is one of the best! I was missing that good ole British fry and tucked in the middle of Lemon Grove, San Diego there you will find Chef John's fish and chips restaurant. Order up a plate of that delicious crispy fried cod and seasoned fries and wow. Crispy and tasty fish fried to perfection. So fresh without that fishy smell. I am a malted vinegar person but his fresh tartar sauce is amazingly creamy with that touch of pickle in it! He offers other plates of seafood, shrimp, calamari or if you are not a seafood person, chicken tenders fried the same way! This is one of my favorite places to go for fish and chips! Go try it!

First time visiting here, loved it! A little more money than I expected but worth every penny

Fish and clams combo. Very good portion of fish, clams were good but a little small, chips very crispy. Will definitely come back to try the calamari and shrimp.

They aren’t the fastest so order ahead. However the food is worth it! The space is nothing fancy, but who needs fancy when you got good food?

Culinary Chef John's Fish is the best. So no more trips to England. Go to Lemon Grove see Chef John let him do his magic.

Their Fish and Chips are on point every time! The light crispy exterior and light Fish is simply exquisite and cooked to perfection!

Their tarter sauce was creamy and just delicious!

Not worth it. Fish is cooked well, fries (not really chips in the traditional fish and chips sense) were cooked well, but the $$ was way more than it was worth. Spent $100 on three baskets of fish and two baskets of chicken.

You really only need to order the 1 fish + chips basket as the fish is huge.

The fish/batter is also flavorless. Location is a bit sketch too.

The staff works hard to please. And the portions are more than enough.
Cook knows how to fry the fish. And not greasy. The tartar sauce is good.
Price? It's not expensive but not cheap either. I trust this establishment to have fresh food and I am never disappointed.
Plenty of free parking. And well lit.

Counter service made-to-order fried seafood. The fish fillets are huge. One is probably enough for a meal. The fish is flaky and fried to perfection, making it crispy, light and not greasy. The fries are good. There is an assortment of dipping sauces in addition to tartar sauce. They also have different kinds of fried veggies. Staff is friendly. The wait was a bit longer than expected but not bad. The ambience is very casual, fast food ish, but it's clean and bright. If you're looking for a kick back spot to satisfy your fish-n-chips craving, this place will do.

Plain jane inside. Always clean. I have been getting fish and shrimp there for last two owners. And its always good to eat, and you get plenty for your buck.

Everything on their menu is amazing. The food is crispy without being greasy. Even though the food is made fresh when you order, they still get orders out quickly. It's definitely a hidden gem.

Recommendation: Fish and shrimp combo with fries or the fried zucchini

Stopped here and grabbed dinner. The food was ok but nothing special. I went next door to grab an after dinner drink and they locked my car in the parking lot. If you are going to lock down your parking lot then maybe you can put a sign up that states that.

Very nice small family run joint. Very friendly and very very good fresh food! Nothing was bad or even ok, everything was great. Though fried nothing was greasy or oily.
