Chef JUN reviews
17Great restaurant with excellent food. Had the omakase experience and it was delicious and pretty filling compared to other omakase experiences. The truffle Otoro was amazing, would definitely come back
Great place to get some fresh sushi and sashimi. Great choices. All fresh. Really good for a nice place out to eat.
The sushi was very delicious and the staff were extremely nice. Would definitely recommend!
Came in just to order something to go at 8: 44 and was told the kitchen is closed. It’s a Friday night and the place was full of people. So you’re telling me if someone sitting down wants to order something that the kitchen is all of a sudden closed. Horrible customer service. Would have been my first time there. It will be my last time. Disappointed
The food didn't hit the mark for me. Others may like it but it was underwhelming for my tastes. Don't think I'll be coming back, too bad, because it has a nice vibe and the staff was very friendly.
The food quality was good, but portions were small and pricey. The hand roll, at $8, was notably tiny. Other sushi rolls were expensive, and despite spending $112 for five people, we left not feeling full. While the sushi tasted delicious, the overall value didn't match the cost. Highlights were the Fire Fire Roll and Hawaiian Roll.
I knew it was going to be good when I asked a San Diego friend for a good ramen place and he was like YES CHEF JUN! Oh man was he right! It was slightly busy on a Wednesday night which was another good sign. I got the tonkotsu ramen and vegetable gyoza. It came out quickly and the ramen was so phenomenal. The broth was so flavorful, not overly salty, and had that rich taste and feel to it. The full tea egg they give you in it is SO good, perfectly jammy and flavorful. I absolutely loved every bite, and drank all the broth! The vegetable gyoza were lighter, flavorful, and nicely crunchy crisp. I really had a phenomenal experience, and after a hard day of work it was exactly what I was craving. I'll be back!
The fish on the rolls appeard to be ground to the consistency of hamburger and tasted and smelled old. The service was outstanding, but the food left alone to be desired. I have never experienced ground salmon on rolls.
Order from here all of the time. Always call in with my name & info. Always get my food. Considering they know me by name by now & I order the same thing, decided to get rid of my order when I came in for pick up less than half an hour later and did nothing to make it right. Closed the register and decided to close prematurely. Your staff doesn’t care about your business.
Nice low key restaurant in our own neighborhood. Everything was great and all the food was excellent. We’ll be back
The food was ok but not great. The rice was very sticky. The fish was bland and the price was too high compared to the quality of the fish.
I wouldn't recommend this sushi restaurant.
I don't leave reviews often
But this restaurant blew our minds with the food, service and atmosphere.
The sushi is boooomb.
I'll definitely come back again even though I'm 2 hours away
Great place for Japanese food. We wish we had a place like this in San Jose.
I got the Jun San. As each course was brought out, the waiter described each item. I usually get a roll and some sashimi and this was my first multi course Japanese meal.
Loved the atmosphere and the service was really great. The ramen not so much. Sushi roll was okay.
The sushi rice was not good, cold and hard. The shrimp in the shrimp tempura udon was panko’d not tempura. The udon had sweet marinated shiitake mushrooms, the broth was over powered, $17 for a bowl of tempura is not worth it. The otoro was more like chutoro. Please don’t put caviar and truffle on nigiri to make up for the poor quality fish and sushi rice. If the price was way cheaper I would have given it three stars.
Our server, Luis, was beyond amazing! He made the BEST recommendations for items that I now crave weekly (salmon oshi) and we’ve been back three times now. Amazing service & food and this is definitely our new regular sushi spot
Tonight we wanted sushi and this was on the way home. It was quite busy even though it was almost 8pm but we were seated quickly and ready to order when our server arrived. We chose the Avati roll, Dragon roll and Fire Fire roll. It would be hard to pick a favorite of those three, and I wish I lived closer to try the rest. He was still a bit peckish so he ordered the Crab Cream Croquettes, and they disappeared quickly.
