Chef Paul's Cafe

Went here on a Saturday afternoon. Place was pretty packed with people also picking up orders to-go. Parking wasn't too hard to find.

Sat at the counter and was promptly helped. I ordered their Braised Oxtails with a side of mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy and cornbread. The meat of the oxtails fell right off and the gravy used to smother it was delicious. The sides were very delicious. Portion was pretty big and can definitely be shared with 2 people. The only downside was the food wasn't too warm when it came out.

Overall a delicious experience. I spoke with the owner, and he's a real nice person. The area is sketchy, and the inside was a tad cold, but the mural on their wall is definitely a highlight. Gives off a Ernie Barnes Sugar Shack vibe. Highly recommend coming here.

I was recommended to this place by coworkers. I had the smothered pork chops, which were really good and had lots of flavor. I wish the Mac-n-cheese was fresh. I was looking forward to it. My sister had the Meatloaf, and she enjoyed her food as well. Unfortunately, my cornbread was cold. My mother ordered the tri-tip, which she didn't eat because of how dry it was. Our server was great, he really interacted with my son. I'll come back but next time order our food to-go. The restaurant isn't in a great area of Fresno.

This place is a mom and pops spot is so daammm delicious is like you are eating at your grandmother house is so great and good food good prices I just have one thing that the service can we way better at the time they were really slow and is not like it was super pack and that's it just better the service a Lil b beside that everything was freaking great definitely a come back. U guys need to try that hot sauce is so good omg.

A Hidden Gem!

Needing to get something to eat before heading back to Dallas, TX and knowing the Fresno Airport had little to offer in way of restaurants, my husband and I stopped at Chef Paul’s Café. At first we were hesitant given it’s location and outward appearances, but once we were inside, we soon realized we had discovered a HIDDEN GEM!

We were immediately greeted and serviced by the friendly wait staff who remained attentive throughout our meal. The menu was diverse and offered something for everyone’s taste. I ordered the meatloaf – deeply rich, savory, and meaty in flavor with very little, if any, filler; green beans uniquely flavored with stewed tomatoes; and perfectly sweetened yams. My husband ordered the smothered chicken covered in a thick brown gravy; creamy and cheesy macaroni and cheese browned just right on top; and green beans. Everything mmmm good!

The serving sizes were ample enough to share and the prices beyond reasonable.

If you are just passing through Fresno or need a bite to eat before catching a flight out of the Fresno airport, be sure to stop at Chef Paul’s Café. BTY - it’s only 10 minutes from the airport terminal.

Really amazing food, if you haven't tried it yet definitely give it a try. Mac and cheese was some of the best I've ever had.

Travel 1hr to go eat at this place for the good ratings that I seen on Facebook from Channel 30 news all I could say is safe your time, money. Dirty place, broken bar stools, waitress with Dirty appron, all around bad service never ate l left after what I seen.

Currently eating my left overs from yesterdays trip to chef Paul's as Im typing this. The only place I will actually finish my left overs like that. I usually leave me food in the fridge until its too late haha. Its so good and the customer service was one of the best. Such a kind and nice staff.:)

Fried chicken is bomb! The fried catfish was delicious too! Of the sides we tried the mashed potatoes and gravy was the best. The mac and cheese was good just a tad under seasoned. I really want to try the fried okra & fried green tomatoes! Next time for sure!

First time there on 07/31/22, order by phone was told order would take about 30 min. Or so as they had a full house, which they did.

Order the chicken breast and a waffle as well as the shrimp and grits. Food was good especially the chicken. Very good flavor.

Not 5 stars as I think their method of taking orders could be improved by having a cashier just take to go orders and another cashier just do the dine-in orders. It was chaos in there, definitely need more people helping the poor lady at the cash register. Expect long lines. Just go for the chicken.won't regret it.

Me and my wife went to eat at chef Paul’s we were the first two to walk in today at 11: 30am waiting in my car for 30 minutes to open we sat down was the second table to get our order taken everyone on that sat at a table had got there order and there food served to them some even finish there meal before we even got ours and like I said me and my wife were the first to walk in this morning i dident want to leave this review but I had too we wasted a hour just sitting my wife was disappointed she really wanted to eat there we seen it in the news so we decided to go try out the lady with the glasses looks lost the Mexican girl was real nice she was trying I give her the like I said the food was great just had a bad experience

Atmosphere was great, workers are very friendly, they make you feel comfortable.
Now regarding Mr. Chef Paul he is COOL Makes you feel happy and welcomed his FOOD is very very good I recommend it, I don't know how anyone can make fried chicken without it being greasy, amazing and delicious please try it you will not regret it. Also try his signature hot sauce on table you will want to take it home. TRUST 10

Was very disappointed, the food taste old. The Mac and cheese was cold, chicken was old and DRY. It took 40 mins for them to serve cold old food. This place is too over price for the quality that they're serving.

Real southern comfort food in Fresno! I wish I would have found this place sooner. Cheesy grits were straight proper. Cornbread was soft with a smooth texture. And the parmesan toast that came with the grits: brilliant!

It was OK. I wanted to see what the hype was. I tried the Greens but they had a POUND of salt in them. I dont mind salt. I tried to eat them but jus couldn't get past the saltiness. Probably a bad day they had. Might give them another try.

I've been hearing about this place for years and I'm so glad I finally made it in. The fried chicken breast and waffle was amazing. Juiciest chicken breast I've ever had. I don't even like meatloaf, but my daughter ordered it, I tried it and now I'll order it next time. I love okra and their okra was outstanding. So glad to have a great southern style restaurant here in Central CA.

I absolutely loved the food. We ordered several plates just to taste. I can tell everything had layers of flavor. That is what I call home down cooking. Please do not forget dessert. It is a must go restaurant.

Meat loaf was raw, not just mines but my wife’s gave us horrible food poisoning, quality has gone down ALOT had ordered oax tails before and they were awful think I’ll take a break from chef Paul’s until the quality improves
