Chico History Museum reviews
5This is the only section on Native American history of this area called Chico? Wow.
Checked out the exhibit showcasing different remaining aspects of Chicos first Chinese Temple.
Small museum. There is a Chinese temple altar but did not say where it came from. At that section, there are some Chinese artifacts. The other half of the museum are bits of pieces of Chico history. Its quite small and probably will finish in less than hour. Staff is welcoming. Museum is free.
Small but insightful place of information. This museum will tell you a lot more than you might imagine. Did you know there was an electric street car going from San Francisco to Chico. There were steamboat ferris coming up from SF (to Marysville and as far as Red Bluff). There was a big Chinatown- whose inhabitants were harassed, killed and eventuell driven out of town. Museum features beautiful altar of the Chinese temple and many more beautiful small windows to a past era. Don’t miss the police exhibit with hilarious description of a wanted criminal (see video). They also hold special talks - check their events calendar.
First time visit. We were trying to use up time and it turned into a very pleasant way to do it! Lot's of interesting Chico history and a great, big topographical map of the valley. Will go back!
