Chilao Visitor Center reviews
7While the campsite and it's surroundings, is great, the facilities are not. The restrooms are a mess. I would not recommend this place at all. They are disgusting.
Super cool place to stop on a Angeles Crest drive. The two ladies working inside were friendly.
Unfortunate that hours are so limited. Structure and grounds need more care!
Love camping here. It's close to LA, there's water and lots of trees. Make note, it gets busy on the weekends. Plus it's first come first serve.
I had good time on my Friday drive up here. Came across this place by chance.
Update: Closed due to Covid.
Sign with hours posed on the short drive in was wrong. The visitors center was closed.
West Fork Ranger Station: Built in 1900 alongside the West Fork of the San Gabriel River and north of Mt. Wilson, the historic cabin was the first ranger station built in California with federal government funds — $75. In the late 1920's, new roads into the mountains changed both the method of travel into the forest and the choice of main travel routes, leaving the cabin in relative isolation. The cabin was moved in 1983 to protect it from decay and vandalism.
Located behind the Visitor Center (closed in winter).
