Chinese American Museum reviews
13 Really nice museum. A little small but it's perfect to manage in a hour with kids.
There is a room that has an optical illusion- you're supposed to go in on your own but kids freak out on there by themselves (it's not scary, you can just get a bit disorientated), so I would recommend an adult go in with the younger kids 6-8 - kids older can go in together they should be fine. There are a lot of fascinating artifacts and the interesting history of Chinese in California.
Quite a few of the exhibits encourage you to slow down and have some quiet reflection time which is also great for the kids as they automatically calm down.
Built in 1890 by Philippe Garnier—a French settler and prominent businessman—the Garnier Building is the oldest and most important single structure linking the Chinese community to Los Angeles’ original Chinatown. It is also the oldest and most significant Chinese building in a major metropolitan area of the state, as the original buildings in San Francisco’s Chinatown were destroyed by the earthquake of 1906.
I came here with my three other friends and we had ate too many delicious dishes at this restaurant. Services of this place is really impressive if I would talk about the staff then they are super cool and friendly of nature. We literally worth our time and money. I would like to suggest everyone.
Absolutely breathtaking! A must-see! Learn of the struggles of those here before you that build firsthand our railroads that connect us, our city, state, and our nation.
Really interesting museum which a great content about Chinese-American history and the development in the United States. It is a great place to see more about origins and development of Los Angeles and how important has been immigration in this country. If you have the chance to go to this museum, please do it, because it could have a good surprise on the temporary exhibition floor.
Free Admission now.
Go on a Sunday from 10 am - 3 pm.
If you can find a meter or street parking, that would be Free too on a Sunday
Very interesting place, lots of cool things and information I didn't know. Best part it's free!
A good place to learn Chinese American history. The revolving topics of notable persons and groups contributing to our American history.
Fascinating museum, we (non Asians) don't know much about California Chinese except that they built the railroad. This museum fills out the story.
Great museum - you'll learn info that isn't well known. Make sure to check out the cool art installations on the 3rd floor! Admission is free too.
The Chinese American Museum is an amazing place to know about American-Chinese history and culture. The exhibitions there are limited, but the museum is free and it's definitely a good, educational experience. The parking though, it's a but limited and you have to pay for it.
Wonderful museum with create small exhibits that are free to the public. Also in an historic part of the city and in a building that is the oldest hotel in Los Angeles
We walked in here because we were hot and it was the only place that had AC. So glad we did, we ended up staying and visiting the entire museum. Definitely came out with more info than I had before going in.
