Chinook RV Resort reviews
12This comfortable place was a perfect base camp while we were on a climbing trip to the Promontory area at Wilson Creek Beach. I would certainly stay here again if I visit this area in the future.
Chinook RV Resort is one of the best RV campgrounds I've ever stayed in. It's quiet and peaceful. The fog rolling in in the morning is a great scene. It has a river behind it that is amazing to sit by and enjoy. The staff here is friendly and caring. It is a great place to stop in your travels. And I love the abundant blackberry bushes!
This was a first time for us in our RV and I will say it was great memories were made I will return felt so much love. Thank you Chinook for having us love all you had to share with us.
We recently stayed in the new glamping tent which is in a beautiful location, right on the river! There were lots of blankets to keep us warm as well as enough drinking water for 2 days and fresh towels. There was also a table with chairs set up inside which was very convenient. It was very homey and cozy, and Deep kindly set up the BBQ for us when requested. She was also quick to respond to messages. The best part was the location though, we could see seals on the river and there were beautiful forest views. It was quiet and peaceful and one of the best camping experiences we've had.
Sites are small. Very quiet. People are nice and helpful. Wish we could have gone fishing but it was closed. Views are spectacular. Jet boat rides looked like fun as did the trees of mystery. Would definitely go back. Saw a bear across river.
The Chinook resort was perfect for us. We went there for glamping; the tent was beautiful, everything was clean and thoughtfully decorated. The resort is very well taken care of and clean as well. Probably the best part was the customer service, from booking it to check out, it was a great experience! The resort is close to most of the attractions, right next to the Klamath river, and surrounded by the redwood national forest. You can’t go wrong!
Wonderful location, nice campers and management was fantastic to work with. Great group of campers to sit and visit around the fire of an evening watching for seals, otters, Bald eagle and bear.
Site 17 by the River was epic! Our family of 4 camped in our sprinter van by the river. The view was breath taking! The small campground was lovely and even had a little playground for the kids. And in the morning it was low tide so we could walk down to the river and found little treasures. We would definitely recommend it and stay again!
We got the end spot (#36) overlooking the water w/ beautiful views. Quiet campground, everyone was very friendly. We did not use the bathrooms/showers. Good location for exploring both north and south in Redwoods National Park. Only downside, we did not see the bear that everyone said they had been seeing by the water during low tide.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. We had a beautiful view and it was so quiet. The other guests were really nice and welcoming. Probably one of the best camping experiences setting up next to the river like that.
FYI, the camp store closes at 4 and isn't open on Sunday so we didn't get to check that out at all. The boat dock and access to the river wasn't available while we were there. The view is spectacular, truly peaceful place with really nice people. The RV sites by the river are a bit small when someone pulls in next to you. Power, water, septic all good. Cable didn't seem to work but didn't bother us. One complaint was that all the trash cans were overflowing a bit and didn't get cleaned out until Monday morning. Didn't seem to be an issue with the bears in the area though.
Loved the community fire pit since not all the sites had one. Looks overall like the owners are improving the place. I heard it was new ownership. Lots of wildlife in the area, birds, fish jumping, seals in the water, and bears a few 100 yards away down stream.
To the owners, if I could make a few recommendations, I'd remove site 17 entirely and make that an actual path to the tent area (since everyone cuts through peoples sites anyway) and make more river view sites for RVs in the tent area side. Also, a fenced in Dog run would be nice but the giant field worked well. You've got a gem here.
The owner of this property does not care about the guest experience. We were not told they were doing construction. The showers and bathrooms were closed for a few days and there was constant construction noise. During this ongoing construction a water line was struck and water was turned off while they shocked the system (approximately 8 hours). They even started working on the outside of the air B&B from 11pm to about midnight one night. The workers were being so loud yelling, laughing, and talking that we thought they had to just be rude guests. When we asked why someone was hammering and drilling at 11pm they said it was because it was going to rain the next day and they had to finish the project! Also when we arrived to the property we see a big sign in the front office that they have a no marijuana policy due to “disruptive behavior”. The owner is welcome to make what ever rules they want of course, but there is no mention of this on their website nor when I booked over the phone. In a legal state I feel like the owner needs to upfront about this. The manager and her husband were very friendly and obviously don’t make these policies. We did not meet the owner. There are so many RV parks in the area consider one of them instead.
