Chiquita Canyon Landfill

These folks are polluting the area to a massive degree. It's time for the government reign in this company.

My family and I are concerned for our health. Until this Spring, we have never had issue with the landfill. Since then, most nights we cannot open the windows of our home without experiencing a very putrid, toxic sort if smell coming from the landfill. We can smell as we leave the canyon, heading to the 126 on our way to work. We hope this issue is addressed soon as it seems our health and future may depend on it.

The rotten smell of this landfill is out of control. Other landfills and refuse sites do a good job of keeping odors away from nearby residents but this place does not care. Us Val Verde residents are suffering the consequence of living near this refuse site, but the putrid stench has extended all the way down the 5 to the point where I begin to smell it on my commute home on Magic Mountain. Their response to continued complaints is to pontificate via an official letter to residents and basically renounce responsibility for the smell and use ridiculous terms to try to downplay the reality of putrid rotting trash wafting over the hill to our houses. We can't open our windows or go outside with the stench and their "solution" is to give a small air purifier to residents so they can write us off. This place needs to be shut down completely or they need to make drastic changes.

As a nearby resident of the Castaic community the landfill has not taken the appropriate measures to keep its neighbors safe from toxins and pollutants. It has left a horrid stench and make it unsafe for my family to use the backyard or keep the windows open during this heat wave.

As a long-time Val Verde resident, the Landfill has been a helpful resource. Unfortunately, over the last few months, most residents cannot open their windows or spend time outdoors without experiencing a seemingly unhealthy, toxic sort of smell from the landfill. Whether night time or early morning, you can't get away from it. My family and I are truly concerned for our health and future of our life and property. Please stop the smell.

This landfill is a waste of space and a damage to the health and safety of nearby residents. They need to leave the current property now!

Cannot control their stench, residents have to live with it day and night. Landfill sent out flyer that it was just slightly toxic to residents. How does the county allow residents to be exposed to any toxic, day after day, month after month?
