Chocolate Drop Hill reviews
3As kids in the 70s we would hike up that hill and surrounding area. Great times back then. Awesome view of the area from atop of chocolate drop
Yes, the 360 degree view is amazing, almost spiritual. Clear view of 29Palms Marine base, the larget Marine base in the world. With that said, calling it an "Historic Landmark" is just as insulting to African Americans as the Confederate flag, only much more recent. Chocolate Drop is so named because during WWII the black soldiers were "dropped" there and the whites were taken to a different location. There's plenty to get worked up about in today's world but the idea that this pretty little hill has such an ugly heritage galls me.
Great spot! Got a team job from a straight couple the other night. Gonna try again tonight. They said they would be back.
