Chop Bar reviews
16Went to Chop bar after visiting the OAK museum on Father’s Day and was surprised by the lackluster service we received. Ordered a Bloody Mary & glass of wine which was just the right amount of spicy but took a very long time for the waitstaff to check back for food order. In retrospect I think it was shift change because all of a sudden all new faces were working! Our original waiter said something happened with the printer and did we still want our order? !? It was just a bizarre scenario and was very disappointing. The burger was delicious btw.
Super nice staff and helpful. Always great service and quality of food. Clean facilities. The drinks are.espresso martini is bomb
Great service the whole time we were there.they were responsive and kind considering our party arrived in spurts. We had a good time trying out this place. All selections ordered were great. Believe them when they alert you about the HOT SAUCE (Or maybe it was salsas.)
The ambience is definitely cute and fun for a group, but the food was terrible. I think it's hard to mess up a hamburger, but the patty was more than well done when I asked for medium rare, very sad tomatoes, and avocado, and the bun was extremely dry and unappealing bread. At least the pickle was good.it tasted bad. $45 bill with a beer.
Can't remember what I had but the food was good. Atmosphere was nice and the service was amazing
This restaurant has a tiny kitchen that serves a lot of meals. They do the best they can, sometimes they get behind. The atmosphere is casual and lively. The seems like a good place to watch the warriors game. We'll be back another time to try the poutine.
Food was good, actually pretty delicious but the service left a lot to be desired. Just felt very amateurish, and for the prices they’re charging, the service fell way short. From not coursing our meal and having the bottle of wine we ordered brought to the table open and literally dropped off, it was quite astonishing how incomplete it was. Did not even pour the wine. Someone, not our server, dropped the cheese plate and didn’t know the cheeses. Even after going back ‘to find out’ did not really know them. In fairness it was Mother’s Day evening, but it wasn’t busy and while we enjoyed our meals that were well executed, I certainly won’t go back
Wings, chips + guac for apps. Ordered the chop burger with cheddar and meatloaf as the main dish. My kids had their chicken + fries and the Mac & cheese. All delicious! Had the bad bunny juice, and it was very refreshing. Will definitely be returning!
Came across this place by accident because I had a flat tire close to here. Went here for breakfast and had the Chilaquiles with Carnitas. I was very impressed with the taste and quality of both. Chilaquiles crunchiness was just right and the salsa verde was in point.
I came back here a few more times and will be back often. Highly recommended!
Great food and service. Tried their poutine a couple of times; delicious. Appetizers and drink selections were decent as well. I would say it's not fantastic but worth visiting, like a 4.5, but I can't enter that, so 5/5 it is
Excellent restaurant to hang out with your doggie in patio area. Food offerings always fresh and well measured. Highly recommend.
Drizzly Saturday afternoon with most restaurants with no outdoor seating, we were SO grateful for Chop Bar to let us with our handsomest doggo to enjoy some snacks and drinks. The "poutine" wasn't really a poutine but still really fresh and yummy along with Beet Salad. Everything came out in a timely manner and would come back to try other goodies
Put together nicely but still had some holes in business to patch up. I'll return in 6 months or so
I come to Oakland, California a few times a year, and I cannot help notice what a great job the local business is doing here. Chop Bar is near Jack London Square in what looks like an industrial part of Oakland, CA much in the way of the artistic Bohemian style of De Pijp, Amsterdam. I ordered the breakfast burrito with carnitas. $21.00 The unique blend of cooking styles in California, particularly Oakland where you get a fusion of Asian cuisine, Mexican cuisine, etc.gives that simple dish (burrito) a certain flare not found in many spots. Chop Bar has a full bar, with specialty cocktails, bloody Marys. Great ambiance with large glass window views from a reformed warehouse/loft environment decorated with local, relevant cultural themes makes this place a winner! Their signature award winning dish is the Oxtail Poutine over fries. Great spot to stop in and chat with friends over a couple of drinks and comfort food. Price range between $10.00 appetizers to $27.00 high end of entre spectrum. Lovely, friendly staff. No stuffiness, very attentive.
Their patio seating is located along a busy street and makes me nervous to think about having a rambunctious toddler running loose. I am a big fan of the P. E. I. Mussels ($19), guac (make sure your kiddos watch out for the spice!), and fries ($8), but wish there were more vegetarian options. Make sure to order a fancy cocktail if you are so inclined.
