Cigna, San Diego CA

I was covered with Cigna in 2021. When a claim was sent from my provider, Cigna rejected it saying I was covered with another provider and they won't pay. I had no other insurance in 2021. I had 3 calls with their customer support and each time, they sent it for review with their team and denied the claim each time. I am supposed to contact this other provider that I did not have coverage with and get a letter stating that I was not covered in 2021. When I called the other provider, they confirmed that I was not covered with them in 2021. Luckily I had a record with them 6 years ago and they could give such a letter. If I did not have a record with them they would not be able to provide a letter stating that I had no coverage. This letter then needs to be sent to Cigna and then they will decide whether to pay. This clearly is fraud.

Added on 2022-06-23: After I sent the letter, the claim was still denied for the same reason. Apparently their data systems have an issue. If you ever get on a support call and it goes to Philippines, please ask to speak to someone in the US. Total of 12 calls and approximately 30+ hours dealing with 1 claim.

We called Cigna to see if they would cover a covid test form a private company when no others were available. They said yes for the full amount of $120.5 months later and hours on the phone they paid $75
