Cinespia reviews
18Cinespia at Los Angeles Theatre was absolutely breathtaking. Thank you Cinespia for showing, Amelie, such a fun feel good movie?
So Fun! Bring your own food and drinks and it's actually cheaper than going to movie theater.
Always a pleasure to see movies here. It does seem staff have gotten more lax about what is allowed as the people a few rows in front of us had tall chairs and a full standing card table obscuring the view.
Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery is always a great time. I've learned you need to be patient with the entry process, and be prepared for your things to go differently than expected no matter how much you prepare, but it is all well worth it for a movie under the stars with some fellow movie lovers! A couple of tips I wanted to share that I would have found helpful my first time at Cinespia:
Parking/getting a good blanket spot: If you prepay parking on the grounds then you do not have to wait in the pedestrian line, BUT they do not let cars in until the "gate open" time and they do NOT let you line up on the street prior to the gates opening. So best advice is to circle around the area until a few minutes before the gates open before driving up to the entrance. If you are not prepaying for parking, people get there an hour before the gates open to save a spot in the standing line - the goal of all of this is to get a good spot for your blanket. Even then, they open sections one at a time to let people lay blankets down so you may be early in line but not get your first choice space. At the end of the day the experience is fun and any spot is great.
Photobooth: we love doing the photo booth! They always have a pretty elaborate one in theme with the movie being shown. Highly recommend making this the first thing you do as the line gets long. Sometimes they have props you can hold or use, but usually it is just a set/scene. They usually take 3 photos and they do it pretty quickly so you'll notice people and groups practicing their poses in line so they can keep the line moving. They sell the photos if you really like them but 1 photo of your 3 is posted to the cinespia website usually a day or 2 after the event so you can download/screenshot that for free.
A movie showing in a cemetery? Why not? !
This is so LA! Recommend getting here early because Melrose gets pretty packed as the show starts. You're able to bring a low chair and your own picnic to enjoy too. They also allow you to bring beer and wine as well! However, if you forget or don't feel like packing they also sell snacks and drinks there. Bring a blanket and a mat to rest on and enjoy the show!
You’re basically spending almost $30 to watch movies that came out almost 20-30 years ago (depending on what’s showing) but you know people—“iTs ThE ExPerIence tHat CoUnts”? On the bright side: Good food.
I love coming here every summer to watch my favorite movies. We bring our own low chairs and blankets, food and beer. They keep you separated from those that have chairs and those that perfer lay on their blankets. I usually get there 2 hours before they open the gates and just wait in line. It's a small walk from the front entrance to behind the cemetery where the grassy area is located. They have potable toilets here. You can buy popcorn and drinks from the food stand. I've been coming here for 3 years now. Never a disappointment so far. Oh and I can't forget to mention the dj's that are playing the music while you're sitting and eating before the movie starts. I have enjoyed listening to the D j's playing their music.
Amazing experience! Get there early to get a spot. This was such a fun time and such an ethereal way to watch a movie with friends
Great concept loved the movie, but was packed like rats, and we're still in a pandemic if we're sitting on top of each other being outside is redundant as it won't help prevent the spread of the virus
If you don't arrive at least an hour early you will have trouble finding a spot to sit. Buy parking in advance.
Great atmosphere, a lot of is what you bring to the experience. Movie looked and sounded fantastic for outdoors.
Listen, it’s a great idea and great execution EXCEPT for the fact that they oversell the tickets. You can get there an hour before the show starts and still not be able to see the screen. That’s what I’d expect from a FREE movie in the park, not an expensive event. If I pay for a movie I expect to be able to see the screen.
Love seeing movies here. But it is an ordeal getting in, finding your spot, and getting out. But with some planning, and the right group of people, the experience is well worth the hassle.
This was a super dope experience. If Purple Rain is screening every year. I would definitely be attending every year.
Was really excited to go to a showing through @cinespia but got really disappointed when I experienced their customer service. I bought tickets to see Almost Famous but couldn't attend due to a family emergency. I had emailed customer service to see if I could attend a different showing the next day.even though I explained my situation I received the response "we are not able to refund or exchange your tickets due to our sales policy. " I would think that they would've been more understanding since the situation I went through was completely out of my control nor did I desire for it to occurr.moral of the story if you're not able to go to see your movie this company cares more about the money they made off of you than your satisfaction
If you don't like crowds, this might not be for you. But this is one of the best experiences! They show movies in the Hollywood Cemetery!
Get there early early early! Even if you are far back, try to sit in the center/middle. Bring more blankets than you think you need. CA gets cold at night. You can bring all the food and drinks you want so bring a feast! Make sure to get pillows or some type of low chair so you are comfy for the entire movie.
A must do for a date or a night with friends. Get the on-site parking (it’s worth it) and arrive early so you can see the beautiful cemetery. Get some floor chairs at rei so you can sit in the middle or some chairs that are a little off the ground so you can sit on the sides/ in the back, tall chairs are not allowed. Not having a sitting pillow or chair makes it a bit harder after 3 hours of sitting on the grass and not being able to lie down because you wouldn’t be able to see the movie. Bring extra blankets as it always gets cold and humid at night! Don’t forget to bring a bag for trash! People come with full on picnic sets with short tables etc. You might have a to walk quite a bit from parking to field so be comfortable. Have fun!
Awesome time was had by my entire group. Very organized and like getting 2 for 1.a movie and a party. Looking forward to doing it again!
