City Cruises San Diego reviews
15Inspiration Hornblower was an amazing cruise. Sal was such an amazing person customer service was great I am speechless of how amazing he was. Thank you Sal
Over all, we enjoyed the Wed night dinner cruise with this vendor. That said there was a few points when dealing with the vendor that tarnished the broader experience. Lindsey our server did a great job and the VIP upgrade package was 95% on point.
1. Plated Dinner - We paid a $125 a person for the plated dinner meal and got a the buffett (buffett was 88$ a person at the time of booking).
2. Photo - We added almost every upgrade to this experience (VIP and dinner vouchers). The package was supposed to include a 5X7 photo. As part of this we get to vouchers for photos before boarding. When person came around to give us photos I handed them the voucher. The person got rude and snotty about not having dollar amounts on the photo vouchers. I'm response look you provided the vouchers and provided the photos, just give us what's included. She then ran off and talked to someone else and came back. Again being snotty this time she told me the the voucher is good for up to $30 and the package the had was $40. Again I sad just give us what included then. She then said they would just give us the photos and waive the $10 dollar upgrade this time. I'm sorry but really! You're going to fleece me on cruise that totaled $1150 with tax for $20 more dollars. Then get mad when I just requested the photo that was included with the package we paid for. Literally trying to shame me on a romantic dinner cruise in front of my wife and friends.
Those two reasons are the main points why I gave the overall experience a 3 star instead of a 5 star.
Enjoyed our 1 hour cruise. Many places to sit indoors or outdoors. Decent selection of snacks and drinks. Food a little pricey but not outrageous. Friendly staff. If you can do the 2 hour cruise, you are able to see more. The one hour goes quickly.
Did the dinner cruise for our anniversary celebration. We did the VIP and romance package. The whole experience was amazing. The staff treated us with respect and made us feel special. They ensured we were taken care of. The on board DJ was super fun. She gave all the anniversary and birthday a shout out and ensured a song requested was played. The food and drinks were amazing. Make sure to check out the top deck and enjoy the 360 view of the harbor. Expect 2.5-3 hours round trip. Shout out to Esteban and the director they were great.
Great night for a cruise around the bay. Fabulous dinner with very good DJ. Would liked to have had dinner served earlier, so eat a snack b4 you go.
Dinner Cruise review. This was not worth the money we paid at all, the boat was not cleaned and we could not see through the windows. Food was so lame, and not as described in the menu. The staff was nice but for the price we could have had much better food. Do not pay for the window seating, because everyone gets a window seat, such a scam. Parking was impossible as well.
-10 No Show Harbor Cruise
Showed up for harbor cruise in San Diego and there was no one at window. No signage that they’d gone home! Folks at other cruise ship said they’re known for not opening or just going home. Very unreliable! Ridiculous
Great activity to do while in San Diego, you get to hear about facts and history of the city and the military ships that port there. Make sure you get there 30 to 40 mins prior to departure it will be a lot of traffic and find parking can be a headache. On the ship they have snacks and alcoholic beverages for purchase to enhance the experience. They also do brunch on the weekends and sunset cruise with dinner. I would highly recommend making it a part of your trip while in town.
So here's the scoop. We did the 1 hour tour. I liked that the cruise was guided but I missed half of what the guide said because of the teenagers screaming their lungs out. I kinda wished something was said to them. That would have made the experience better. Seating was limited. Overly crowded. The views from the ship were great though.
The Champagne Brunch was excellent. The crew was fantastic! Everyone was really kind and responsive. The food was great with a variety of menu choices. I highly recommend this when visiting San Diego. And of course to top it all, the marvelous view of San Diego Bay.
The views on the cruise is really nice with the narrator introducing many interesting stories.
Don't go to this address because it's not where the cruise ships are. The ships are 2 miles down past the Midway Museum. If you try to call and talk to someone you'll jus get a voicemail. Extremely frustrating!
A detailed description of warships.
Once to the south and once to the north (1 hour each).
The 2-hour cruise allows you to see both sides.
It was difficult to find the ticket office because the location of the ticket office and the actual ticket office in the Go City app were different.
Whale watching!
Long (4 hours: (if you are lucky you’ll spot one, not much to do on the board, plus uncomfortable seating adding was a very shaky trip that caused almost half of the passengers feeling sick and unhappy!
The bright side we spotted decent amount of playful dolphins during the long journey;)
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Sadly will not recommend or thinking of trying it again any time in the future.
Took the Father's Day cruise with my family this past Sunday. I was throughly disappointed. I've taken cruises with them before when they were just Hornblower, zero complaints. BUT this time? The food was disappointing, they ran out of eggs immediately and didn't make enough, I overheard staff saying someone forgot to make more. The buffet was missing food items that were listed on the menu, there was no live dj like stated on their website of the cruise description. They started the cruise late, we didn't even get the full 2 hr cruise.
The worst part was the food enhancement that I added to my reservation, I added the baked brie with fruit compote and crostinis. I had to take a picture of it because I couldn't believe what they presented me with; 3 pieces of overcooked cheese drenched in honey. I will never again do any type of brunch/dinner cruise with them. I do not recommend this business.
