I drove all the way out there to buy a board just for them to be closed. The hours online state until 7 pm.

Shop that has everything you need. Customer service is superb and they are very knowledgeable! This might be my go to for anything surf related.

Had to wait about 20 minutes to get in. Only allowing 10 ppl inside at a time. Made for a nicer shopping experience, can get crowded inside. Well stocked and staff is always willing to assist.

Great shop! Came by to get wax for my boards, and forgot to buy a surf wax removal comb, and when I came back the guy gave it to me on the house. Definitely a shop I want to come back to!

Thank you CSS, definitely the best shop in SD! Appreciate you staying open in a limited fashion to grab some things during this lock down.

Ordered a board online, picked it up curbside today. Super easy and fast process. I would recommend these guys for your quarantine surf needs 100%.

I've been going here ever since I was about 13 years old. They have the best family oriented shop in town. You'll learn everyone's name if you go often enough, and they'll learn yours. I have found enough variety in clothing and gear than I can at even some of the bigger named outlets, which is nice to be able to find things that are stylish while still unique enough to know that everyone else won't be wearing the same outfit. And, their membership is cheap, and gets you a decent enough discount, and a free tee.

Great service. Called to check on stock, phone rang once and was picked up. Confirmed they had what I needed, showed up and Matt opened the door for me, then proceeded to help me find what I want and answered some of my general surfing questions with recommendations. For sure will be back. Pretty large store with a ton of stock of clothing, and skate and surf boards galore.

I just went in to buy a rashguard, but I was very temped to buy a lot more. Very clean and organized store. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The guy at the counter who I bought the stuff from was really nice and was more than happy to answer my questions and give me some recommendations. I will definitely be back to rent a surf board from them.

The Clairemont Surf Shop is fully stocked surf shop. They carry a number of different types and brands of some of the most popular short boards, as well as long boards ; also sell plenty of different types of skateboards and skateboard equipment too.
Their shop is very laid back and you can buy myriad other surfing/skating accessories there too.
Their experienced associates can help you find just about anything that you are looking for and if you are a beginner, you'll need specialized eguipment. If you're advanced, you'll know what you need to buy too.
Since our water is quite cold, you shold buy a good wetsuit and "breathable ear plugs. "
My bond with surfing: A lesson for you!
I eventually became a "soul surfer" and that's when I finally experienced plenty of those "aloha moments. " I learned how to "read distant weather patterns, swell directions, types of ocean bottoms, tidal fluctuations and periods - highs, lows and ebb tides, as well as beach angles, wind speeds and directions, " and "I avoided heavily localized beaches. " It's one of the only sports in the world where you must deal with two variables ; the ever-changing wave moves forward toward the beach and you must maneuver your surfboard along the face of the wave as it angles it's way toward the beach ; it's something that is very difficult to master, yet that still doesn't describe surfing. "It's the feeling that you get after a really good ride" ; you hear the sounds and feel the power of the ocean - I call it "the heartbeat of the ocean itself, which suddenly melds itself together with your thoughts and then everything just goes momentarily silent. "
It isn't necessarily how good you are ; it happened to me on nice 6' to maybe 8' waves, where I was able to "work" each wave ; whenever I got nice long rides ; big enough to inspire precautionary measures. I eventually learned how to "read" each wave - as no wave is exactly the same - which then allowed me to make some individually awesome moves. It's like "a high" that isn't even comparable to anything that you can imagine. But that was just a dream.just a dream or was it?

I had the worst experience with Danny, Quinn and staff. For starters, Quinn did not quote me correctly on an item but I did not learn of it until I drove an hour to find out. Quinn had left for the day and I was left to deal with two young rude and inadequate employees. I tried to discuss the issue with the owner, Danny, who was equally rude and insinuated my husband and me were liars and his employee Quinn had not made an error. This store does not value its customers nor make any attempt to make there error right. Very disappointed in their poor customer service.

Solid service and a great selection of surf/skate equipment. They also rent out a wide array of boards for a good price. Plus, it has a great location in the center of SD, smack dab in Clairemont off of Balboa Ave.

I've been going here for the past nine years and the staff has always been helpful. Great selection of gear, clothes and boards. They recently remodeled the interior and it looks a lot better. Everything is much more organized and it's easier to navigate through the different brands.

Complete authentic surf shop. This shop is not a dressed up touristy surf shop that isn't intrested in selling surfboards. The freindly staff is well trained and nowledgeable. Clairmont Surf is well equipped with a good selection of surfboards, wet suites and other surf accessories.

The guys walking the floor really know what they're talking about. Great place for beginners and experts alike. Used boards can range but you can expect some gems every once in a while. Not everyone working here has great customer service skills.

If your traveling and need a board they have awesome sticks for rent at 10$ a day plus all that money gets converted into store credit, that is ridiculously cool if you ask me!

Always very helpful and they always want to make the right connection between you and the right board for the conditions that you surf

Local surf shop that's been around as long as I can remember. Reasonable prices and a large selection of suits and boards.

Nestled in a location that you would not think of for surfing, this local surf shop has a good selection of surf boards, skate boards, clothing, flip flops and more.
