Clara Baldwin Stocker Home, West Covina CA

My grandmother had lung cancer and was under the care of this facility. I live in Arizona and when I came out to visit my grandmother I noticed her oxygen tube had water spots throughout the whole tubing. I asked the nurse if that was normal and she assured me that my grandmother was being taken care of. I drove back out to Arizona and I got a call from the nursing home at work saying that my grandmother was very upset and refusing to eat. I left work and went to the nursing home and the staff didn't want me to see her telling me that she didn't want to see any visitors I went straight to my grandmother room and helped her in her wheelchair and took her to the nearest hospital like she asked me to. She was diagnosed with ammonia and passed away 5 days later at the hospital. The nursing home did a phyic evaluation instead of having a doctor exam my grandmother saying that she was crazy instead of providing the proper care she was in need of.

My 97-year-old mom received great care while in Clara Baldwin Stocker for 10 days in June 2023. She had been transferred there from the hospital after having her gallbladder removed; she was extremely weak, in pain, and couldn't even sit up by herself. Our goal was for her to be able to get out of bed by herself and get to the bathroom on time OR to use her walker to walk across the room or down the hall, so she could return to her assisted living facility. Thanks to Hugo and the rest of the Physical Therapists, she achieved that goal. The nurses and other personnel were always attentive to her needs and very friendly and competent. My mom also said that the food was outstanding! Thank you!

I was scared when I read the reviews, but this was the only place that would take my ex husband, and I and glad, he has a speech pathologist, a doctor, the nurses taking care of his wound, phisical therapy and the kids can come over to visit him I am forever grateful to this place they help him to recover and go back to his old self.

Medical treatment is poor. Doctors are uncaring, do not take patients seriously, and are almost never available to see a patient when it is needed and asked for. You can ask every day to see your doctor for an important matter for days and weeks without ever seeing him. They simply ignore you. You don't count. Medical decisions are made without ever discussing with the patient. It is as if the patient doesn't merit basic human respect and courtesy.
The nursing and support staff in large part, is far better. Many are polite and courteous and try to do what the patient asks for and needs, although they are understaffed. Physical therapy is understaffed and rarely provides the quality services the web site claims.
Overall, the food is pretty good and the kitchen will agreeably customize your meals to meet your individual preferences.

If i could give this facility 0 stars I would, my step dad was admitted here over a week ago the nurses are horrible they dont care, I being a CNA myself for 15 years know the ins and outs of nursing homes please don't bring your family here my dad was left in a chair for 3 hours whiles his bed was soaked for that long he never got a proper shower the students gave him meds while the nurse wasn't in the room and he started choking. They didn't know what to do.they would hang up on us when we called the nurses station.
