Claremont Club & Spa - A Fairmont Hotel reviews
17Thermostat and internet didn't work, room was tiny, carpet was filthy, all for the low low price of $800 per night! Definitely the worst Value hotel I've ever stayed at.
I have to give a big shout out to the staff, and especially Jennifer at the concierge desk, for taking such good care of us on birthday weekend. We got a room upgrade, drinks coupons and help with a nice cake and a decorated table on arrival in our room. The staff throughout the hotel bent over backwards to be amazing all weekend. Drinks out front on the patio can be really pleasant in the evening. As for the rooms - one person's "tired" is another person's vintage, and the Claremont is nothing if not vintage. Our third time there and we'll be back.
We really enjoyed our escape to the gorgeous Claremont. The building has been beautifully updated with modern decor and features, yet it maintains historic elements and charm. The hotel's location on the edge of Berkeley allows for a quiet getaway, yet it's a short, safe walk from the shops and restaurants of College Avenue. Highly recommend upgrading to a room with a view of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Misleading reservation agent promised room from top floor, but room turned out to be on 3rd floor. We were disappointed once again by this bait and switch approach to selling $1,000 a night rooms. We have stayed at that hotel more than a dozen times, so make a point of calling reservation, yet it happens over and over.
Great massage.supercool and friendly but not too friendly staff.wonderful spa manager.great courts and fitness area.the view? WOW. LOVE THIS BUILDING!
My stay at the Claremont was magical. Effie went above and beyond was an incredible front desk host as was all the staff on premise; so personable and accommodating. We had an amazing stay for our anniversary and the team, the hotel, the views and the amenities made it spectacular.
What had been a totally 5 star experience, was completely deteriorated upon check out and dealing with the Front Office Manager. I was told one thing about my Food and Beverage credit. Then another. It was like dealing with a shop keeper in New Delhi.
Great massage.historic building.beautiful views.spa manager and staff are detail oriented and clean as a pin
I came to primarily check the spa amenities. While the hotel and staff is good, I was surprised about the parking and resort fee (resort fee should be a given for guest). While a stay here could be worth it, I'm going to check other hotels with spas for comparable rates & amenities.
Update Aug 22: Summer Yappy Hours were pretty fun.
Service is off from pre pandemic but understand staffing is a challenge for many service oriented biz, so for now giving the benefit of the doubt: I mean the views and cocktails are awesome!
Great swimming, aerobic classes and staff. Wonderful tennis program also.
Search an amazing place! This historic hotel is a destination especially with the limewood restaurant and the event centers it’s a great place to take friends family and others to experience something special.
Don’t get impressed with the pictures. Couldn’t get a more depressing room. Really old place so to speak, not worth the money got there late the whole place was dead! No place to bring the car to the porch, so over stated, don’t waste your money on it.
Beautiful visuals of the Bay from the outdoor seating area of the restaurant. On a clear day, enjoy scenes of all 3 bridges while you eat. I highly recommend.
Spa is not up to Fairmont standards.
I recently took my mom to this spa to celebrate her birthday. I specifically picked this spa because of the Fairmont name, but having been to a dozen Fairmont spas across the country, I can say without hesitation that these facilities are sub standard. Granted it’s an old historic building, but the levels of cleanliness and maintenance were very shocking.
The locker rooms are dark and dingy. The jacuzzi area was so poorly ventilated that the high level of chlorine burned our eyes and we had to leave after 5 minutes. The quiet room is drab and uninspired.
The massage itself was good but overpriced given the poor spa experience.
Great location. Beautiful setting. Staff is SO nice that it's almost impossible to say enough about how great they are!
Only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because some of the fixtures and furnishings are looking a bit down at the heels and that's not quite appropriate. Time for a bit of a refresh.
My bathroom shower was giant and fancy but I couldn't get the water quite hit enough no matter how much I fiddled with that Grohe temp setting
Had to cancel my stay at the hotel. I did this in accordance with the cancellation policy and my cancellation was confirmed by the hotel. It’s been 20+ days and I still have not been refunded by the hotel. Funny thing is, I can’t even get anyone from the hotel to return my calls. Beware!
We love the Claremont Club and all it has to offer. The kids club is AMAZING. The gym and it's employees are all friendly and helpful.
Great tennis courts and amenities around the club. The pools are a no brainer and the swimming coaches are outstanding. The lifeguards attentiveness while kids are the pool could be better but overall the CC is a 10
