This is a wonderful and safe place to live.
This program and lifestyle works if you want it to. Sobriety is a new lease on life without leaving the property

Words can not express how grateful I am for my social part of dons model with "peers helping peers". Every day I wake up at 4 am and hear my heart beat for my next level of soberity. It's truly an honor to be a part of a family that is there for the long haul. Just know you are going to want recovery as bad a you want to breathe. There a saying in the monthly house meeting "no matter what". JUST GIVING YOURSELF THE OPPORTUNITY. I love all of you so much.

After countless half-hearted attempts at getting sober in rehabs and SLEs throughout central California, and 10 or so long stays at hospitals, I moved to suburban Sacramento just to be in CSTL… and I’m so glad I did.

What sets CSTL apart is that there is a common purpose with a supportive community that leaves the whole day open for folks to develop their OWN path within a broad 12-Step framework. I have found myself redefining and developing my ethics, and get support and encouragement in doing so, even though my path is a Buddhist one. In other words, they don't foist a narrow view of HOW you should go about it: the emphasis is decidedly on the goals, not the process, while maintaining respect for the community.

I think the management is fantastic, and I’ve never met anyone - be it a resident, or especially an outside professional - who thinks otherwise. They are exemplars of what living sober is all about; they clearly love life, and live it so well and so skillfully. I've learned a lot just by watching how they deal with challenges and day-to-day living. They do it with complete aplomb, and project a vibe that they really enjoy doing what they're doing.

CSTL has at least two 12-Step meetings per day. There are also awesome 12-Step meetings 4–6 times daily just 1.3 miles away at the Alano Club, and many, MANY more excellent ones within about 4 miles. I’d say about 85% of the meetings around CSTL are way better than ANY of the many meetings I found in northern Monterey County or in the heart of Silicon Valley from Menlo Park southeast to Santa Clara.

In short, I cannot recommend CSTL more highly IF you want to step into a vastly richer and more fulfilling life – one where you are happier; one where your relatives and genuine friends will be happier with your new outlook and lifestyle changes; and one where you are making positive contributions to communities writ small and large. If that doesn't grab you, then it’s just a big waste of time and money that you could be spending on your addiction.
