The counselors at this school are actually a joke. The counselors made me feel so absolutely low about my life and the guidance I needed as a first generation student. Every single time I went in for an appointment with the counselors they always acted like I was impeding on their time. I once left the counseling office with the most hopeless feeling after the counselor telling me I wasn’t going to pass their classes judging from my last grades. I explained i was in a tough position the semester before and was trying to get back on track. Again she acted like me asking questions was annoying her because I didn’t understand what I needed to get done. I’ve had many more incidents with these counselors but this just takes the cake.
NEVER GO TO THESE COUNSELORS:
Meng Vang
Belinda Aguilar-Jones
Leah Velasquez
Cynthia Beltran
Marvin Turk
These counselors are unhelpful and don’t care about students just the money. Awful school wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Love the trees and lots of shade friendly staff in financial aide, handicap parking and handicap doors in most buildings, I wish the class rooms had handicap door ways. Awesome teachers

I am a student here. I have to say the staff are the greatest people. Very accommodating. The bathrooms I have visited are very clean. They have changed the soap dispensers to automatic, I really like that, I just wish they would use regular soap and not foam soap. But that is just personal preference. I would recommend this Jr college to any one.

A spacious and well organized college setup with humble and spacious parking, and green vegetation across campus. A conducive environment to study. Attending a two days training here but enjoying every bit of it. I strongly recommend the college.

I wish I could give it a -1. The Counselor is no help at all. Wasted my time waiting and sitting for no help from the counselor.
Update: I went back and met with another counselor. I have never felt so unwelcome as I have felt at COS. I’m really thinking about not going here. The counselors didn’t help me either time. The last one this time had a bad attitude because I had questions.

Is rigid. They falsely the score.

A 360 score or higher on the Assessment Test and the student has to start at Elementary Courses.

My journey on this campus started with general education during the last two years of high school. Through another educational institution, I was able to get an early start here. College of the Sequoias is a wonderful stepping stone for those looking to seek an affordable education in obtaining specific skill sets. For me, I ventured into agricultural technology alongside culinary and nutrition. The staff are exceptional in their own ways and many of them are there to see you succeed, willing to assist in any way possible. The curriculum delivers a handful of knowledge necessary to move forward and the graduation patterns are easy to understand when it comes time to planning the next two years of attendance in advance. Financial aid is easy to establish provided a few documents to prove your state of need. Overall this is a really splendid place to learn something new! An abundance of resources are available to most attending students such as nurse visits, library, bus pass, and more!

This is an embarrassment of a school and administration. Administration office is pretty much worthless trying to locate the emails of the teachers to help out as to why classes got dropped. They’ll just tell you to go to canvas and look up the emails after I spoke to the cash office lady who told me they would be able to help find the emails. They’ll mark you as a no show for not submitting an assignment even though you’ll submit it 5 min before it’s due online. Not only did my English class get dropped by Samantha but because of that class being dropped my history class was dropped as well since it was a prerequisite. Join COS if you’d like to struggle and babysit these people.

I have never felt more uncomfortable and attacked when talking to someone. I considered not writing this because I don't like labeling people based on a first impression, but this was over the top. I talked to a counselor today and wanted guidance on what classes to take the upcoming semester, she was very rude from the beginning. She seemed angry at me for having attended a UC before attending here. She attacked my choice of classes which is understandable since I was trying to chose my next classes and some were not transferable. She kept repeating that I need to fill out a form that I never received, that I couldn't take alot of classes due to this. I asked if she could send it so I could fill it out and I could chose classes but she hung up on me. I understand that times are stressful right now but a counselor should not be putting down a student in any way. She also was angry that I was late to a previous counseling appointment, but the appointment was over the phone and I was told I was going to get a phone call. I was ready at the time I was told that it was going to be. If it was my responsibility to call I would have but I was told that they would call me. Labeling me as "extremely late" is unfair. No one should be talked to like this but coming from a counselor is terrible. They should only hire people who care about the student's well-being not those who almost make it a goal to put you down. It was very uncomfortable to be yelled at through the phone for just seeking guidance. These people need to understand that this is their job so they will know more than students especially first generation students.
