Community Hospice Hope Chest Thrift Store, Modesto CA

Love these thrift stores. Went to Ceres Hope Chest and both stores on McHenry today. Always a good experience.

When we arrived people began yelling at us to go over there, pointing to other parking spots. We were not aware of the changes they had made from the covid 19 and there were no signs anywhere that we had to do things differently. There were no signs stating that we had to park in certain spots to hand off donations and they were not polite in telling us other than yelling at us. They also were not changing gloves between collecting items from different donors and they were not even wearing their masks correctly. Their masks were not covering their noses. I was very disappointed because we have donated there many times before, but after the interactions we had today with the staff and their rudeness, we will not be going back and supporting them. It is very sad that we have had to come to this conclusion, but I do not deserve to be disrespected when there are not signs or directions of changes that have been made.

Today I was yelled at and screamed at by a male employee when I did not park in a designated space when turning in my donation (915am). All I know was that there was a pickup truck with all doors open blocking the two designated spaces for donations so I parked next space down. He started yelling at me, I did not understand him (mask muffled his words), and followed me back to the car screaming at me this time that I did not follow his orders in moving my car into the designated space. Cheezes! He needs to calm down. This has happened to me before when donating at this place, the men get nasty and yell at the people donating. This 1 star is for the donation area. Inside the store they are very pleasant.

It's a thrift store, not a best buy. Electronics are way over priced along with the furniture. Manager is not helpful at all and is bothered if you bring anything to his attention. Wouldn't recommend this place

Great store, always busy, you can really get good deals sometimes. Different stuff added daily. Great place to drop off any unwanted items.

Some insensitive white lady that works here wouldn't let my 3 year old niece use the bathroom because it was a few minutes past six. What kind of lazy insensitive anal person would let a kid pee their pants just because they don't want to unlock a door.

I always find something fun to buy here. The store is quite large with the furniture and home goods being in a different large room. There's always a ton of furniture to choose from! I found a pair of mid-century folding chairs for $20 and a mid-century curved front dresser with cedar-lined bottom drawer for $80.
