Companion Animal Medical Center reviews
17I’ve been taking my German Shepherd mix husky to this clinic since 2015 and today 2023, I was told since I haven’t come in in almost 2 years, I can no longer bring my dog there that I have to be referred out. I only give my dog rabies distemper and parvo, every three years since that’s when the dog license expires. So I’m very disappointed with companion animal they don’t do that great of a job anyway that’s my personal opinion and they don’t give your animal pain medication when they come home for surgery. My dog suffered after having surgery with them so I gave her baby aspirin for dogs and she felt better. Don’t take your dog to this clinic, if you miss vaccinations, they will kick you out new policy since 1 March 23. How wonderful.
This USED to be a great place to take your animals. Now you wait months to get annual appointment for vaccines, call the day before to confirm your appointment, come to your appointment only for them to tell you they made you the wrong kind of appointment and u have to wait months to reschedule! Also having appointments where you have to leave your dog there scared in a strange place, in a cage for the ENTIRE day for a 10 min annual checkup? Who's best interest is that.the animal or the vets pocketbook!
We have been taking our boy Brady to Companion Animal since we adopted him in 2016. We love the staff there and how personable and friendly they are! They always show such affection to the animals and LISTEN to you (even if it's just explaining an issue over the phone). We adopted our second dog in the beginning of 2022 and she has struggled with allergies and skin issues. With only one vet (the amazing Dr. Tarkington) they have gone above and beyond for our girl Stella. I always know we'll get quality care and with only one vet they never make you feel rushed or like you're just another name on a chart. We love Companion and all the staff!
Companion Animal Medical Center has been my pet’s veterinary care since we’ve had pets (all dogs). Compassion and expertise and love is given by the pawful. Thank you to everyone who took care of Peridot. She’s as healthy as can be and now has medication to help her live a pain free life. You folks rock! Just a note for for the peeps who have given the center shade, there’s only one doc at this time so just be freakin’ kind will you? I’ve utilized another clinic for my pup’s vaccinations because of the wait for such appointments. I’m fine with that. Rock on Companion
Very nice, they are polite and made an old monster of a human being like me feel welcome and they get straight to the point with my little goober of a dog
I love this vet office, we've always had nothing but good experiences with our pugs and cats. They are very reasonable, and amazing with the animals I've seen 3 different vets and have been impressed with all of them.
The vet is a very knowledgeable and kind person who really cares about her patients.vet techs also very helpful and kind. I want to thank all of the staff for a great experience.
I have been taking my dogs to Companion Care for about 17 years without a single issue until recently. In September one of my dogs was having a significant issue, I called to make an appointment explained the issue including the severity of it couldn't help my dog for a month. I got a same day appointment with another vet. Today, I had an appointment to get my dog a rabies vaccination. I made the appointment two days ago. I explained that my dogs license had expired. The notice got mixed in with a bunch of papers and I had recently found it. I'm usually on top of this stuff but I do make mistakes. I went to the appointment and was refused service. Told me because my dog didn't have any annual. The person I made the appointment with told me my dog was seen in less than a year so I was good. Was told he couldn't be seen until February. I made an appointment for his vaccines and annual tomorrow with another vet. I am saddened by this entire situation as I have referred many people to Companion Care. I don't know what has happened with this veterinary clinic recently. Unfortunately, I no longer trust their service or commitment to long term clients and will be taking my dogs elsewhere. I will no longer recommend this clinic to anyone.
Dr T and staff always show compassion.
We want to recognize Charlie. She cared for him when he was extremely sick.
We are grateful Leo makes our lives complete.
Thank you Charlie
Had the experience of meeting a new vet, at least new to me. Very impressed with his ability to convey any concerns. He was so gentle and truly confident with my 3 dogs. They were very receptive of him. He was very thorough, thoughtful and concerned about any of my concerns. Very enjoysble experience! Hope he stays here. Will highly recommend.
Staff is friendly. Appts book was to far out and the office is overly busy. They have a tendency to run out of medications. My pet has gone with her meds a few times and she suffered because of it.
I have taken my dogs to several vets here in Visalia and there are only 2 I am extremely pleased with. Companion Animals my #1 and Redwood my #2. So compassionate and affordable too! Dr Tarkington (Dr. T) at Companion Animal is absolutely Awesome! I would trust her with my life!
When your child is sick, you want the best pediatrician for them. When my fur children are sick, I want exactly the same thing, the best. I found it here.
We've used CAMC for many many years. The staff and vets are top notch! Highly recommend.
New review not permitted️. Edited an older review: You cared for my Willow from 2 days after I adopted her, to the end of her story. I'm not sure how I'd make these heart breaking decisions without your compassion and empathy. Bless you all, love you all.

LOVE Dr T and her staff. I have been going for over 20 years. She and her team have taken care of multiple surgeries, vaccinations and have been so kind during the bereavement process.
I watched in the waiting room, how the front staff answers calls and takes care of the next customer in line while still making a connection. We are able to chat about our amimals and I feel that they really love their animals too.
Lloyd and Harry like to bring them treats because they are so good to us! Thank you Dr T and TEAM
I have been with Companion Animal for over 15 years. My pets are my family and the staff at Companion Animal have always treated my pets and myself like their family. You can't fake real caring and that is what I find when I take my animals there. Right now they only have one awesome devoted Vet, Dr Tarkington who is doing everything she can along with her helpful staff to see to our needs. When they get another Vet they will be able to accept new patients again. You'd be very fortunate if you took advantage of that. These ladies running this place rock.
