The guy with the Northern Vietnam’s accent is very rude and mean. He talk with the sound really contemptuous. In the past, I was really like Consulate of SanFrancisco, but this time the customer service over the phone is bad. So disappointed!

It’s very important to prepare for your travelling ticket and photos. $85/per person.
You can send email, then the officer help you print it if your ticket is not available. (Extra cost)
There’s two weeks for picking up your passport, take a receipt.

Email as follows the picture:)

TIP: Save their phone numbers in your contacts, or be able to recognize their numbers, so that you know to pick up their call to finalize shipping and payment!

- On Aug26, I submitted four applications for the 5yr visa exemption using the online form on their website.
- On Aug30, I received a call from San Francisco, but thought it was a scam call, so I did not answer. They did not leave a voicemail either.
- On Sept9, I decided to give the office a call since it was nearing our VN trip, which is when I realized that it was them who had called on Aug30. Anyways, be prepared to keep calling until they pick up. Their voicemail inbox also always seems full, so you may not be able to leave a message. Eventually, someone picked up and I first spoke in English, but soon switched to Vietnamese after they asked since they seemed much more comfortable in Viet. It was a relatively quick call, about 5min, to locate our applications and give payment info. They told us it should arrive around the end of the following week.
- On Sept20, our visas finally arrived via FedEx!

It was $70 per application and then $30 for shipping, so $310 total for four applications. Overall, it was a relatively easy process, but took a while, so apply early in advance to avoid any stress! If only we could fill out payment info on the online form, so that they wouldn't need to call us. The process would seem much more efficient and smoother! Oh well.

Anyways, thank you to the SF VN Consulate for our visas! Cám ơn!

I just want to get pricing on Certfied documents to be sent to Vietnam. No pricing on the website. 1 star for online and phone calls. 5 stars when your there in person. They got all paper work done in seconds. Extra cost.

Want to renew your Vietnamese passport in less than 2 weeks? You can mail your application here! US passport can take up to 11 weeks last time I checked!

Everyone I spoke to on the phone was very nice and explained to me what information I needed to complete my application.

This is my first time dealing directly with the Consulate, applying for a certificate of visa exemption to Vietnam. I am surprised that the process went smoothly. After filling out the forms and uploading the necessary documents to their website, I got a phone call from the Consulate within an hour. I then provided credit card information. I was informed of the cost, the expected wait time and duration of certificate validity. I was told the process will take a week. Twelve days later, I received the certificates of visa exemption in the mail. If the Consulate provided a way to enter credit card information online, and sent a shipping email notification, that would earn them 5 stars. For your information, the cost for certifcate of visa exemption is $70. Shipping is $30. You can save on shipping applying for multiple family members at the same time.

This place charges overprice a lot. The price will be depend on if you know the true price or not. Exemption visa only $10 for each but a guy from here called my husband and said $105. This is unexceptable. You guys should change different job. Very disappointed!

5/2/2022 at 2: 45 PM. I went to get a Letter of Authorization for my probate case and they refused to service me without hearing me out. He said "no we don't do that" refused to talk to me. He helped other customers who spoke Vietnamese while I was at the front and refused to even attempt to help me just because I spoke English. I watched as he happily assisted others but he did not look my way after our initial interaction. As I was still waiting for him to talk to me, he showed me a piece of paper in English stating “they are not doing Visas for tourist”. I stated “I'm not here for a Visa…” and he walked away before I could even finish my sentence. I waited for about 10 minutes and no one came back to the front desk. This is a horrible way to treat people. On top of that, they are not accepting phone calls and have a full voicemail box.

They never answer the phone and the mail box is full, you can't leave them a message. I went there to do a Visa one time and those people very rude, very impolite. They are acting like it's a free service. That is the way the Communist work.

My mother was facing some issues with her flight back to Vietnam from Seattle and I had to call the consulate for help. Mr. Ninh Tran was extremely kind, timely and helpful with his guidance and support. Really glad we have great consuls like him helping out Vietnamese citizens during this tough time!

I hope my comments will find it way to the manager of the guy answered the call today 2/2/2022 at 4: 08 pm.

I'm a Vietnamese citizen called to find out the requirements to travel to Vietnam but the guy answered my call showing very annoying when I asked questions and he didn't provide helpful advice. I asked him if there is a requirement to have certification from the consulate for Covid-19 vaccination and have travel insurance that covers Covid-19 treatment because I saw some website said so. He told me that it's up to me and the consulate don’t know. So why the consulate website the form to certify the vaccination? Why the consulate website posted the information about entry to Vietnam? Is the consulate a Vietnamese government agency?

I thought the Vietnamese Consulate is the place where we can find consular service about Vietnam. I called again to clarify the requirements needed to go back Vietnam. He told me to asked to airline and travel insurance company. Are they government agency? He said there is no requirements whatsoever to go to Vietnam, just buy the ticket when there are requirements like vaccination, testing. He just don't want to do his job. He didn’t want answer any questions. This is a very bad service. What is his salary for? We’re not lowly citizen and he’s not above us. He think this kind of service is acceptable? This is a abuse of power where in fact he has no power to treat Vietnamese citizen like that for?

Also, I had to pay $170 for getting a new passport but the official fee on the website is $70. Pretty shady!
