Contemporary Jewish Museum reviews
20This is a nice place to take some photos. The photos came out to be nice like you are in the real background, blended in, and have fun. I like the photos I took. However the room seems to be kinda small, and it is kinda pricey for what it is. It's just a painted wall. My friend did not like it. But if you are someone who like photos, you will like it.
The architecture is amazing, but only one gallery was open, so admission seemed a little steep 14$ for student and 16$ for general admission
There are many wonderful reasons to visit the Contemporary Jewish Museum. They have great exhibits including one of the history of Levy Strauss and how he developed his clothing business. The exhibit is pretty extensive and worth investing a few hours of your time. While the exhibits change, one great feature of the museum is that Wise and Sons Deli is open for lunch everyday. Their hours are limited but their menu has some wonderful Jewish items and they might have the best rye bread in San Francisco!
I especially enjoy their special exhibitions - always well done and thought provoking. My favorites so far were the Kubrick retrospective and the Ginsberg exhibit.
Very disappointing. Only 3 exhibitions (if you could call them that) which had nothing to do with anything Jewish. Will definitely not be paying to visit again!
Every 1st Tuesday of the month the museum is free. On free day, there is a movement class for seniors. I teach chair yoga and I took my group of seniors there in May. Wow, such a great group of people. Dancing, laughing, sharing good vibes all to live music! From my understanding, the band changes every month. I'll need to check out the art next time, it's been a while since I roamed the galleries.
Beautiful museum had a great show of Bay Area artists presented very well indeed. Very clean&accessible bathrooms.
Nice distinctive addition to a fairly plain building. The exhibit was on Rube Goldberg. Quite a prolific artist. Many of his best works were showcased. The other floor had some interesting kinetic art. Including a 3 person run machine to knit a rope. Very nice show. Very nice art space.
Perfect size museum that always has interesting exhibits. Current show is about contraptions and I recommend taking the free guided tour to learn what that means.
It's a very small museum, but the exhibition are very well displays. We took the guided tour on Sunday that was exelant. Just informative enough without being too much.
Informative, pleasant, delightful experience. The staff is very welcoming, and the entry price very, very affordable. Loved the Rube Goldberg exposition.
Wonderful space, great exhibits, totally reasonable entry price: $14 for adults. $12 seniors. Forgot to note kid price. Tuesdays free!
A pretty cool building, along with intriguing exhibits, but in my opinion, is not worth the admission price. This museum took MAXIMUM, an hour.
Some neat art, liked the rude Goldberg exhibit, but it does not match up with it's description. It's an art museum not one on modern Jewish culture. Wise sons restaurant was very good.
Literally the worst field trip our class has ever been too. The lady showing us around would Ignore our questions. I didn’t learn anything the class didn’t learn anything. I hope our teacher NEVER I repeat NEVER takes us there again.
One of the coolest museums in San Francisco. Beautiful architecture, wonderful exhibits. Mind opening experience.
Modern art. Maybe if that's your thing.
I don't get "art" out of a video of a goat standing on a street corner.
Or colored twigs arranged on a plate
Cost $14 mid day to see the sights
It’s the best museum! Worth the visit for the architecture. They offer free general admission on first Tuesday of ever month. At the entry gate you have to stop for checking. They conduct tours, have conference hall. Brilliant architecture, great collection. Makes you think about the art and culture of Jewish people. On the second floor one section was closed due to some work in progress. They will probably start it in March!
I have to admit that I was a little underwhelmed by this museum. The staff was very friendly, but the exhibits didn't really leave an impression.
Well curated exhibits. The museum itself is interesting. We also had very good lunch at the deli.
