Convict Lake Resort, Mammoth Lakes CA

The Restaurant at Convict Lake is an excellent experience. Very nice service and the food is great!

Used the campgrounds. No service. Beautiful landscapes. Sat by the lake and watched an eagle try to catch fish. They only have dirt camping

Great location and service but rooms need some updating. Especially the beds, pillows, bed sheets and carpet. Everything else was perfect.

We only hiked around half of the Lake until we could go no further because of snow melt off.yes, even in August.

There was a fishing derby goings on and many people enjoying the lake.

They have a huge enclised facility Weddings and Dinner.

There are cabins to rent and a few Restaurants as well.

We stopped at the little store there and it was well stocked with many items.

I asked the elderly lady there why it was called "Convict Lake" and she told me the fascinating story of the 30 hardened prisoners that had over powered and escaped from a prison in Carson City Nevada and ended up here at Convict Lake, after making the matters worst by shooting and killing a young Pony Express Rider and taking his horse.

More people joined the possy, until there was a big shootout there, killing the Shariff and his Indian tracker.

The prisoners that were shot were hanged, but the leader escaped.

That’s when they Renamed Diablo Lake, the original name, to Convict Lake.

Note: if you are planning to check out Convict Lake, make sure that you do not miss "Hot Creek Geological Site" located on Hot Creek Hatchery Rd. Not Far.

Amazing

I only came here to purchase aome items but I loved it. Had everything I needed for a day on the water with my family. I bought food to make lunch, fishing license, bait, snacks and ice.

I had to come back and bring my family to pick up a souvenir! There are a ton of stickers, shirts, sweatshirts, blankets, and magnets to check out! Loved it.

I don’t want to say this to loud…but Convict Lake is s fabulous place to stay. They also have a 5 Star restaurant.

Amazing place to visit, relax and take in the scenery. Also, to clear your head if you're in need of that. Renting a pontoon boat and paddle board made the experience all the more enjoyable.

Always love to have a great dinner or just a craft cocktail at the bar. Wonderful service and great views, all hidden in the eastern sierras.

We were there for a wedding. It was so serene and all anxiety just melted away. I can't wait to go back in the Fall.

Incredible location. Rented a pontoon boat for 5 hours with fam. Fished and limited out. Breathtaking backdrop

We’ve been a fan of Convict for decades. We just finished our 2 hour 20’ pontoon rental ($280 btw, and was the highlight of our 5 day trip) and we wanted to stop and get food at the famed food truck. It was Tuesday, June 27th 2023 and there was a huge sign: place order for food truck inside store. Being about 12: 15, we were ready to eat, but not quite for the Convict full restaurant. We walked inside and the lady there yells out saying to take the sign down there’s too many people asking to place an order…. They’re closed on Tuesdays. Wow! Besides trying muster up something in the general store, there was no other options. There seemed to be plenty of people wanting food too. We ended up driving into Mammoth to eat.

Very nice place. The general store has alot of items just in case you need something. The staff is very nice and helpful

We have come here every two years fo the past 10 years for our family reunion. Awesome fishing and views

Great lil place to stay and take in the views. The staff can be hit or miss. The cook in the trailer is great.

Gorgeous surroundings, cozy, comfortable accommodations with a rustic feel, excellent, attentive staff. I highly recommend this resort.
