Coppervale Ski Hill reviews
7I’ve skied at nearly every ski resort in California, and this one is my favorite by far. With east slopes for beginners and challenging runs for advanced skiers, it’s got everything you could ask for. The small time ski hill charm is palpable.
This place is absolutely a hidden gem. I hope people don’t find out lol. The staff are very friendly and always tried to teach and guide us.
Born is always friendly and willing to help. Lots of good rentals. Best hidden gem in the north!
An absolute gem of a ski resort! This is nearly an all volunteer staff that keeps this local ski hill going. This ski hill was built by locals for locals but they will come all. It has one of the last rope tows in California and the rope tow Is powered by an old car engine and truck differential from the 40s. The Palmer Lift is also a piece of history dating back to the 40s and 50s. It takes you to the top of the hill where are you can ski down about a dozen different runs. There’s three or four black diamonds and there are several long beginner runs. This is a great place to learn to ski or just have an affordable ski trip for the whole family. Tickets are only $30 for a full day or 25 for a half. Ski rentals are a $10 donation. The staff here will also give you free ski or snowboard lessons. You you won’t find another ski hill like this in California!
Well I am officially bummed. I'm on a snowboarding road trip and shuffled some travel plans around specifically to ride at Coppervale. I stopped here on a whim a few years ago and have always wanted to come back. So today was my chance. They're only open weekends and Tues/Thurs and I timed my arrival perfectly. Tuesday afternoon at 1: 02, in full gear, ready to roll. But I showed up to a closed gate. So here I sit on the side of the road writing my sad little review. I suppose it's my fault for not calling the snow phone earlier, but their Facebook page is active and I figured they would post any updates or closures on there. When I called the snow phone, the message said they won't be open on today due to lack of Tuesday attendance. Bummer for everyone involved.
But long story short, they still get a 5 star review. They're a small locally ran ski hill and they deserve all the support and respect we can throw at them. Spread the word that this little gem of a ski hill is over here and awesome so we don't lose it. I wish them the absolute best.
Absolutely worth every penny! The staff are Incredible, supper helpful and so so nice! It was a perfect day trip. I'm definitely a beginner and Dave and Norm helped me out so much. I'll be going back for sure!:) :)
