Costco Tire Center, Mountain View CA

If I could give this tire center zero stars, I would. I came to get air pumped for my tires. There was a car left parked an unattended in the middle of all the garage entrances. When we finally found an employee, he told us to pull up closer and left the air pump for us to fill the tires ourselves. Even at non membership car service shops, they'll air your tires for you. We had no idea how close "closer" was and they yelled at us for going too far? I've never had such bad service at a Costco. Don't waste your time here. There's not even gas at this location.

We go to this tire center a lot, the staff is very patient and friendly. They helped us figure out the problems with our tyres and helped us choose the right tyres for our cars.

Costco Tire center is the best in this area. Employees are very polite. I recommend every one to use this Mountain View tire center.

Went for 4 tires change: Good price, fast service, friendly staff, easy ordering online, appropriate reminders by email and text.

Line is long but price is hard to beat. I get car batteries from them as well. (Don’t forget to return the old battery for which they give back $15 fee)

Long wait. Unorganized and they didn’t fix flat. Big time waster. Do not come here if your time is valuable.

I am writing this review because I feel obligated and responsible in warning others about the negligence I discovered.

I had 4 tires changed here. Driving to work the next morning, the TPMS light went on (not unusual after a tire change). About an hour after returning home in the evening, I checked the tire pressure assuming only a quick confirmation and TPMS reset was needed.

The driver side tires were within 2 PSI of the recommended pressure (38 PSI).

The passenger side tires were at 50 and 52 PSI. The max inflation pressure of the tire itself is 50 PSI.

Tire temperature was at about 80F (measured with an infrared thermometer).

Do not trust their work unless changes are put in place to ensure this does not happen again. Tires are an important part of your vehicle safety and the vehicles/people around you. 52 PSI is dangerous. I don't want anyone to have a blowout because of this negligence. If you have your tires changed here, please double check their work.

Jodi and other staff are quick and courteous to diagnose my tire issue and found another problem i didn’t even know. Gave me full credit to replace my tire. Thank you Costco and MV tire center team!

I needed a flat tire repaired or replaced. The guy at the counter told me that since I didn't buy my tires at Costco (just became a member a few days prior), they wouldn't look at it. Said it was a new policy. What gives?

Horrible experience. I was dropping off a car as a favor for someone else on a weekday afternoon. Tires were already paid for, appointment was already made. I showed up 30 minutes before my appointment (they suggested 15) only to be directed to a line managed by one person. No one else in front of me had an appointment, and they were taking their time picking out tires and asking questions. All I needed to do was drop off the key. Similar inefficient process for picking up the car. I recommended America's Tire to my friend, where I got my tires replaced and fixed. They also do free patches. I'm a huge Costco fan but not for tires.

Lines on the weekend are long and they are under staffed and slow. Trying to turn my old car battery and took 30+min standing in line. Not worth the cost savings if you have to do something in the weekend.

Good service. Professional and friendly folks. Its very busy and typical wait time is 2-3 hours. I wish they had online system for 30 mins slot allocation.

I showed up for a tire puncture repair scheduled appointment only to find out that
the appointment I made on a Friday, for the following Monday was not entered into the computer.
Very disappointing, I was told that a wait time would be 2-2&1/2 hours!
Lucky, another person showed up and told me that my car would be "squeezed" in. A little over an hour and 1/2 later, the car was ready.
That probably was an hour longer than necessary, had the original person I spoke with on Friday had actually followed through and correctly entered my appointment time.
I'm thinking that the department is short handed, especially when a customer was calling in and the tire technician lifted up the phone receiver and immediately hung up!

Good price for tires but not good at customer service. I feel like they are super busy all the time and don't have patience to even listen to customers.

Nice service, great rate for getting new tires! Saved $250 minimum compared to getting them from Honda.

Nice team. Sometimes it gets busy in there and they do their best given the customers that walk in the door. Overall, prices fair and service times reasonable.

Note 02 - Why I like them - If you buy your tires from Costco, they give you a decent warranty. I had a set of tires purchased from Costco. The sidewalls were cracking from the sunlight and heat. The tires are warranted only for the TREAD, not the sidewalls. But the manager said if I could prove that I rotated my tires on a regular basis, he'd give me credit for the tires (since I was still under the tread warranty). I proved the rotation and got credit.

Note 03 - Free tire repairs and rotation. I rotate my tires with them. I had a slow leak. They repaired it free of charge. They don't sell other services. So, that's 'good' and 'bad'. But for tire service, I'm very happy with them. (Assuming there's no emergency.)

The staff was friendly and helpful went in for just a battery it was indeed the lowest price I could find. They allowed me to change it in the parking lot. And return the core saved money and time.

As a longtime Costco member, I love Costco. I do most of my shoppings there. However, this Tire Center is awful. Today they had me wait for 3 hours to repair my tire, their reason is that a truck is blocking their entrance so they couldn't work on my car. In the meantime, they didn't call or text to notify me, they just let me wait at the coffee shop nearby, for 3 hours!

Plus, the frontdesk person is dangerously unqualified. He told me I only need to get new tires when my old tires have all their tread completely worn off. This is horribly bad advice and could cause serious accidents.

I know big stores are composed of all type of people, so this place doesn't represent Costco as a whole. But man this place is bad!

Went here 9: 20 in the morning and fewer people were in line. They promised to finish my tire installation in one and a half hours but finished in 40 minutes. Service is fast in the morning. Staffs are nice.

Said the tires I needed were at Sunnyvale Costco. Sunnyvale Costco was unreachable by phone. Luckily, I reached Redwood City Costco Tire Center, which was so much more helpful. They ordered the tires for me—tires will arrive in 2 days rather than the possible 7 Mountain View stated. The first person I reached at Mountain View put me on indefinite hold. I had to call again to receive very little help. Very disappointed in both Mountain View and Sunnyvale for the lack of service and disinterest in helping me.
