Costco Tire Center, San Jose CA

Maybe my favorite part of this Costco Tire Center - their public-access tire pressure pump is automated - just enter the desired pressure and insert the pump nozzle, and it gets there automatically and stops.

Front counter salesperson lacks customer service skills. Received car 1hr 45min after scheduled appointment to install 4 tires. Will go to Skip’s next time.

But Costco tires, make appointment here, get tires installed. Watch out as appointment time can go out a couple weeks when it's busy.

Service completed as promised after scheduling appointment. However, after driving for about 20 miles, got tire pressure sensor flashing. According to my Toyota manual the TPMS system is damaged or needs service. They should have reset it after installing tires. I just hope it is fixed after the reset.

Several people and mechanics have mentioned to me that the TPMS sensors after like 8-9 years will loose their battery and need to be replaced. But I feel the tech at Costco could have just told me or warned me about this. So my rating stands as-is.

My tire replacement experience at Costco:

1. I made an appointment, appeared on time and they were still not done in 3 hours.

2. The technician told me (2 hours after Working on car), they can not remove tpms (pressure sensor). He told me he has to cut and replace with a new one which is additional $50 charge.
(Can someone please tell me how to believe this)

3. I came back to check on him in an hour to see if it’s done, he is still struggling with tpms.
The sensor was destroyed but valve is still stuck in the rim. Complete mess.

It is really frustrating being in tire shop, waiting for them to do a routine work and yet they don’t finish it.

At the end they put my spare tire on, put the rim and new tire in the trunk and asked me to fix it somewhere else.

Now I probably have to spend another half a day for tpms, and still go back to Costco to finish this.

I can’t believe what Costco has become!

These guys are great. Mounted my new tires. This visit was to torque up the lug nuts only. But they're always so accommodating.

According to the personnel here, Costco tires don't accept Tesla cars for tire repair nor change. I guess it is just 1 bad apple.
Use to get very helpful and good service here.
