First off, the receptionist was very pleasant, as was the technician who did my initial screening. However, Dr. Chen's bias was clearly showing once I stepped into the room with him. The first thing he told me was that I had declined long distance prescription lenses the last time I was there even when I could clearly see on the screen that not only hadn't I done so, but it wasn't even recommended. Only after a few minutes with him did I realize why he had set that up. After the eye exam that he didn't seem to like my responses to he apparently believed that I was lying to him about what I felt looked better "number 1 or number 2" he finally said, "I'll take your word for it. " The holy grail of passive aggressive phrasings with the subtext of "I don't believe you. " Then, he proceeded to hard sell me on the idea of progressive lenses only to move past that right onto contact lenses when all I really needed was to know what reading glasses level I was at. He wore his frustration on his sleeve when I didn't think I needed contacts. I have no complaint about seeing far away. I am clearly far-sighted and yet he tried in several different ways to get me to try contacts. He finally sighed with an "Oh well" and curtly wrote my eye prescription.

The people in the optometrist office are fine. The facilities for doing the exam are unacceptable. There is so much glare from the florescent lights and glass that you can see anything accurately. The area where you buy frames offers zero service. You might as well buy on line.

Terrible. I think the worst Costco Vision Center. It should have been a red flag when I was placing an order, and they had a customer who kept having issues more than once, and the personnel was dismissive and rude. Mind you the customer was even a Costco employee. I bought my frames here, brand name and everything and within just under 8 months and it broke. I've had a Warby Parker frames for 5+ years that went thru the ringer and never broke. I went to have them either fix it, refund me or give me a replacement since that was always the Costco policy but the guy working the counter said that the frames are not under warranty and since it's a personalized medical device, they won't replace or refund either. It will also cost me $65 to get the same frames. And they did a bad job adjusting my frames when I first got it. I've been wearing eye glasses for more than half my life, and been to different vision centers, they're the worst. I will never use Costco vision ever again. I'll stick to my Warby Parker.

2 Pairs of Glasses from Costco, both with their basic Anti Glare and 'Scratch Reistant' Coating. 3 months into wearing each pair some 'coating' started showing up as scratches and soon after expanding to a larger chunk of missing coating, making the glasses unusable as a patch of missing coating in the middle of the lens catches all kinds of light. One time I can understand. But twice, back to back, yeah, Costco uses inferior Lens products. Google yourself "Costco glasses default coating" and you'll find a number of threads of people describing exactly what I first hand experienced. Save your self the hassle and pay the extra for a real optometrist, or even use Zenni, none of my glasses from a wide spectrum of buisnesses disintegrate Coatings the way Costco does. Their Staff sounded offended that I would suggest that, like total BS. They know the issue they have, its fairly common, so they have some sort of defensive agenda from the get go, as illustrated by other user reviews here. Costco's great for Toilet Paper, Milk, Eggs and Bread. Eyeglasses? Not so much. Avoid.
