This was the first hostel I stayed in in the USA and I couldn't have found a better place! Andy built a very special place that has an energy that makes it unique in the world. I was able to meet so many wonderful people with super interesting stories that made me admire them, completely changing my point of view about the world.the hostel is filled with ever-changing art everywhere you look making it a living museum. Thanks for everything Andy, I really felt at home and I look forward to returning in the future!

Andy welcomed us very warmly. My partner and I were urgently looking for a place to clean up (shower) and Andy opened the doors of his space to us with a very good economic offer and also let us use all the facilities (kitchen, living room, jacuzzi) and spend the whole day in his home.
It has a very artistic and quiet outdoor area. The jacuzzi was a pleasant surprise for us!

I had an amazing time here! Everyone is so nice and outgoing, I learned and experienced a lot here! There’s so much to do and see around you never get bored, I recommend

I have had one of the best experiences of my life at the Hostel California, it is like living with a family, Andy is an incredible host, always attentive to the needs of the hostel in general! The energy that the hostel transmits is very sincere and fun. It is very close to all the beginner attractions of San Diego and next to Balboa Park.just 10 minutes from the nearest beach. The truth is that I highly recommend this place, the jacuzzi in the garden is the best

My friend and I stayed in this hostel for 10 days and it was a very enriching experience. The atmosphere is very familiar, and you have the opportunity to meet kids from all over the world, sharing meals, music, evenings around the fire and games. Unlike many other aseptic hostels, the environment is very warm and colorful and there are role-playing games, playing cards, musical instruments and balls available. The spaces are clean and the location is excellent for visiting San Diego by public transport.

I can’t believe there are some people commenting about not being responded on instagram, I thought it was just me. The owner of the hostel is a jerk, he discriminates and chooses who comes and doesn’t come to the hostel so if you don’t look the part like a white hippy traveler str8 they most likely reject you, they lie and tell you there isn’t any space available? Really even a week or two weeks advance? They either ignore you or tell you “ they’re full”. Honestly this place needs to close down and be investigated this isn’t a professional hostel establishment and should be avoided at all costs

Wonderful, one of the coolest hostels I've ever stayed in in the world. Andy and everyone at the hostel are very friendly and attentive. I met people from all over the world! It was an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend it!

The best hostel I've ever been in. You arrive and immediately feel at home. The atmosphere is very familiar and the decor is super relaxed. So if you want to meet new people from all over the world and settle in a wonderful city, you should definitely stop by this hostel.

I really like the vibe at the hostel. Good place to chill and enjoy the city. You can reach every point in the city by public transport, anyway the discrict (Hillcrest) have a lot of pubs, restaurants, supermarkets - everything you need. The neighborhood feels safe.

Absolutely disgusting. Flies EVERYWHERE. Bed bugs, house filled with safety hazards. Andy is a creep. There are 100% illicit substances in the house. The good reviews are listed because Andy offers $10 off for leaving a review. Women: be careful. Please. Men, you’ll probably be safe, but not clean. Please stay elsewhere.

The best hostel in all of San Diego! If you want to live a unique experience, meeting people from all over the world and in one of the best locations in this beautiful city. I highly recommend this hostel. Instruments, Jacuzzi and good talks by a stove are not lacking.

It was my first experience in a youth hostel and as a volunteer with Worldpackers and I have absolutely no regrets!
If you like community life, don't mind sharing a double bed or sleeping on a sofa, and like meeting people every day from all over the world, this experience is for you! The place is super cool, the people are cool and in 5 minutes you can go to a bar, cafe, restaurant or supermarket.

Cozy place! The owner is very nice and there are a lot of different people, everyone here is super nice and chill with each other.location is good too! Would definitely recommend it for travelers!

I was a little afraid of arriving in San Diego without knowing the city or anyone, but choosing the THC hostel made my stay here incredible. It's a perfect place to meet people, on the second day I arrived I went out with people I met at the hostel to visit Balboa Park, and I was always able to do different things over the two weeks I was here. Aside from the fact that people are from many parts of the world and can do a lot of cultural exchange, the hostel is very well located, which makes it very easy to go out for a stroll. I felt really at home, and the host is really nice too. I highly recommend it, if I could I would stay longer and I definitely intend to return here at some other time in the future!
