County of San Diego Department of Animal Services reviews
18 Had to bring in a stray. They were all nice and very caring. Had a bit of a wait but they were very apologetic. So that made us feel good that they at least realized it.
Thank you
This is a nice, clean shelter with kind people who work there. It's smaller than many of the public shelters which I like. They have so many beautiful animals waiting for homes - they also are very helpful with sharing information on affordable spay /neuter services, vet care assistance, and training. Adopt don't shop!
Nice staff that took their time and helped me provide a home to one of their rescue dogs. Please consider shelters like this if you’re searching for a new pet in your life.
They didn’t answer the phone and left adopted pup on the website. I feel I did everything I could to ensure the pup we were interested in was available but had to show up with my kids and disappoint them. There was no info on when she arrived at the shelter. They told me she had been adopted for several days already since she came in the week before on Thursday but because she was still at the shelter waiting for spay they left her up. We just lost one of our cats to coyotes so just a really heartbreaking month for my kids and I. I understand first come first serve but this was negligence by the shelter imo. I wouldn’t have wasted my time or gotten my kids hopes up if they had answered their phone or made sure their website is accurate.
Rude. Called to let them know if a dead dog on the road and they said they don't deal with that and hung.
5 star facility, but the gentleman at the front desk is very rude. While he may be great with animals his interactions with people are lacking to the point of disrespect.
Well the service was good so 4 stars for that however; I live in an incorporated area and they just transferred me away from the humane society! The Humane Society is the best! The humane society has an app for your dog licence which is scannable incase your dog is ever missing someone can scan its tags I'm so disapointed, broken hearted, and depressed now. Step it up county! We pay too much money in taxes and fees!
Nice facility, convenient location. Stopped by to drop off donations. If you go after hours, they have a drop box to the left of the double doors. While we were there we saw a few staff playing with the dogs in the outdoor run.
They are very kind. I keep pet rats, and I took 5 of them there intermittently, as they were over 3 years old and had cancers and respitory illnesses. Each time they were a great support.
In August 2013, we adopted Molly, a five year-old lab-beagle mix from the Animal Service facility on Palomar. We were hesitant to adopt her at first because a sign on her enclosure said "No Kids. " However, my daughter, 14 at the time, said Molly was the dog she wanted. The staff at the shelter said that the previous owners had concerns because she had been aggressive with their two year-old, but they thought that Molly would be fine with older kids. We took a chance and brought her home. Molly was the greatest dog my family has ever known. She loved our family and showed her affection every day. This past weekend we found out that she had an aggressive and painful form of cancer. We put her down this morning and we are devastated, but we will always always cherish the nine plus years of true love and joy she gave us.
A lot of wonderful dogs looking for a home. And a lot of people ready to help you adopt one
Last night our neighbor found that three large stray dogs were stuck on a fence and in danger of being picked apart by coyotes. We called the main 24 hour emergency number and to shorten a long story, officer Galvan was dispatched and arrived as promised. They worked for hours to lure the dogs to safety, avoiding a cruel end for the dogs without harm to anyone else. This is a bar-settingly effective county service! We are very thankful!
Lots of deserving animals looking for their "person" to take them home! Sweet pups! Workers and volunteers are very helpful and professional! Give them a try!
I do animal rescue and i have to say i have sent alot of shelters the people here are very loving towards the animals a no kill shelter that has too be over of cleanest i have encountered! Great job guys!
Manny helped with the intake and spay/ neuter of a family of feral cats that decided to be born on my farm. These were spicy cats and not at all human friendly. Got them back sterile so they can be farm cats out here in the country without making a giant cat colony. What great people they have there. Responsive, communicative and a real benefit to the community.
I had recently lost my best furry friend and was devastated. I looked everywhere trying to find Another little pup that would give me lots of love and follow me around like my old pup. I found a dog I was interested in and had called ahead and was told when viewing hours were. Apparently though that was for the southern location. I was devastated thinking we came all the way here for nothing and someone might see the dog first. But they had a cancellation of appointments and made an exception for me. That's when I met my precious pup who I now call shadow because she follows me around like a Shadow! She has been the best cuddle buddy and I am so thankful. I wish I knew the guys name because he really made a difference in my life by being patient and giving me a chance to come in. Shadow was from a hoarding situation and is still a little shy to others but she is the biggest cuddle bug with me! 100% satisfied
I was trying to do the right thing by bringing a stray into their office. I went to the wrong office I guess but that wasn't the issue. Some worker accused me of moving her sign, driving in the wrong entrance, and almost hitting her. I did admit to coming in through the wrong way, but I did not move her sign (someone else had already done that making Me think it was the way in) and no one was even in the lot when we drove in, slowly as well. She reprimanded me over and over not even hearing what I was saying, stating "dont do that again" several times. If this is how your staff conducts business, I'd rather not support it. The woman who told us where to take the stray was nice and apologized for the experience. But she had no reason to apologize, she did nothing wrong. The woman, who had no business even coming up to me, deserves to be reprimanded for her actions. Someone should sit her down and teach her some manners.
Great place to find a pet.
We adopted our dog from there.
Great staff and very caring.
I recommend it.
