Crab in a Bag, Bakersfield CA

Absolutely delicious
We purchased the Family Special in addition to the Peeled Shrimp! The customer service was great, food came out perfect and hot! We weren't able to finish so we packed it to go. My family and I have been going to Crab in a Bag for years and it's never been a disappointment! Thank you for great food and customer service!

Ok I’ve gotta give this place a 5 star! This was the most best sea food boil bags I’ve ever had! The craw fish! The shrimp pealed! The potatoes! The Alaskan crab it is worth every single cent! So much food we took a bag home and I went back at it again for seconds! The customer serves was very friendly and great. And to top it off we went on a Sunday and they had Christian services on, just for all believing Christians. I will definitely be returning, I traveled 2 hours just to eat there too.

I love this place and the crab in the spicy cajun garlic sauce. Well, with that being said, the prices are now insane. A pound of snow crab with corn, potatoes and sausage pieces cost me over $50.00. Not sure what is going on, but the price has more than doubled, and not sure if I will be able to afford this anytime soon.

A unique experience. I had fish and chips, but other people there had shrimp in a bag filled with liquid. I am not sure how they ate it wiout getting wet. Seems to be a local favorite.

The food here was great. It's not likely when you can get quality as well as quantity for your money's worth, this place definitely gives you both! Worth every penny!

Most importantly, well cooked. Not overdone. Seasoning is good, I'd level up if you actually like spice. I'm a medium level but could have been a little spicier. But that can be hard to gauge people are so different in that way so probably hedging bets on folks who think they eat spice but don't. Good move. Better to be a little under in that aspect than over, as that would likely ruin your meal. Excellent service. Micholadas were amazing (honestly the best one had in a long time). Great addition to your boil. The owner said they plan to expand to the building next door so that's awesome look forward to that. I would go back! And likely will. I travel so I compare a lot. Prices were same/ similar market value as others. So when they get that cooking temp right, which they did, that matters to me. Nobody wants some overcooked seafood! FYI I got one pound head on shrimp (no other way to go folks!) Crab cakes were on point, and snow crab. My husband got crawfish, well cooked also, and pretty decent size (as that can vary based on season. But they weren't scrawny!)

Not that great but not bad either, if you have had a good cajun shrimp somewhere else this place will not blow your mind, if you just fancy some shrimp and are nearby you van give it a try, shrimp was a bit over cooked and a bit to greasy also flavor was not the best.

I ordered a pound of shrimp it came with sausage I also added an egg when I got my order and got home I open the bag and the shrimp were green and gray The shrimp was very dirty I ended up going back to get a refund I do not recommend eating here for your health

Their clam chowder in the bread bowl was really good. I also bought the pound of cajun shrimp, but made the mistake of buying the whole shrimp instead of peeled; that was on me. However, the flavor was a little off from what I remember, can't quite put my finger on it, but I still enjoyed it.

First I wanna start off with I WILLL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! Customer service to start off was rude and undressed. The was even a employee wearing hello kitty pajamas. Very unprofessional. I order fr family special and my shrimp was black and greeen. I wanted a refund back including other customers that came in the same time. The employees on sight could not give me a REFUND. So the next day THE RUDE MANAGER CALLED and explained there is nothing wrong with the coloring or the mushy of the shrimp because that’s how it it. I SPENT 140 and couldn’t even be happy. I would Not recommend anyone going there.unsanitary and they do not sanitize or clean after every customer. I RECOMMEND YOU GOING TO CLAW DADDYS on Taft high way. I should of listened to everyone about going to crab in bag and now I REGRET IT. I will contact HEALTH DEPARTMENT!

This place was pretty disappointing. I saw it on the way to my hotel and thought it would be great. I'm from the SF Bay Area and know what a pound of crab feels like! The crab was very small, therefore, very light! The seasoning was good, but for market price, it truly wasn't worth it. I had their chowder too, and it had some hard potatoes as if it had been hastily made. Save yourself $40 and get a burger or some tacos for dinner! Really!

Not only did I get crabs on Union, this native of Maine found that its true about inland sea food. They need to bring a Joe's Crabshack to Bakersfield. The while place stunk to high heaven. I don't think their ventilation is appropriate for the building or the people don't clean. This place is nothing short of Hepatitis A (food poisoning due to fecal matter)

As I was waiting for my order (1lb shrimp bag), I had seen a cockroach crawling on the wooden backboard wall. I tried to take a picture but it went behind the TV. I told the lady that I seen a roach & she looked for it but couldn’t find it (went behind the TV). She then left & came back w/ my order. I had asked for a refund because I was disgusted. They have a sign that says no refunds under any circumstances. I asked for the manager & she had explained that he had just walked out. I then saw another cockroach (which is circled in the picture). I let her know & she believed me this time. She then “tried” to give me a refund but didn’t because she didn’t know how to. I had no other choice but to take my order. I left with disgust. I opened my bag & my seafood smelled bad. I know what good seafood smells like & that ain’t it. I had to throw the entire thing away. Never going back again. I wish I could’ve at least got my refund back. It wasn’t worth it for a place infested with roaches.

Everything was pretty good. Service was good, the place was clean and if I lived in Bakersfield I would definitely go again

Customer service was basic. Food was flavorless. Definitely not worth the money we spent. We had shrimp, crab, fries and fish. Shrimp was over cooked and rubbery. I wouldn't recommend.

My family and I have wanted to visit this place for awhile now and we finally got time to visit tonight. I am not really a seafood person but holy cow was the food so delicious. My party ordered shrimp & fries, fried calamari, side of rice, baguettes, butter garlic shrimp in a bag, and cajun hot king crab in a bag. The amount of seasonings and just garlic was soo yummy. The shrimp were big in both orders and the crab was a nice size. I did wish the 'in the bag' had another potato but other than that everything was fabulous. I love that they had giant paper towels available per table and made getting messy fun. Lol definitely was worth it.

Finally, got to try this place today and it was delicious. Upon arrival my party of three were greeted and attended. We had ordered the calamari, shrimp in a bag garlic butter style and king crab Cajun flavoring along with some Baggett' s which were soft and delicious. My experience was great and the food was good. I look forward to visiting again in the future.
